As Genelia celebrates her birthday, it's a fitting moment to look back on her impressive journey in the film industry. Known for her iconic role in the 2008 film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na, Genelia has enjoyed a vibrant two-decade-long career. Her versatility is truly commendable, as she has not only made her mark in Bollywood but also in Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. Reflecting on her career, Genelia shared, "I think my journey has been amazing. It has been a journey of appreciation because it wasn't the career that I chose, it chose me. I fell in love on the way." She expressed deep gratitude for the diverse opportunities to work across different regions and cultures, which she believes have enriched her craft. "A girl in the north will be different from a girl in the south, and having the opportunity to play so many varied roles has made my career wholesome," she added.

Initially, Genelia liked to plan her entire year around films. However, after becoming a mother, her perspective changed. "When I do a film now, it means taking out that much time from my kids. It means giving a lot more than just doing a number of films. So, I just want to own the choices I make," said the actress, who is married to Riteish Deshmukh.

Genelia took a break from acting to focus on her young children but is now ready to embrace more work. "I took a break initially because my kids were younger and I felt that I needed that time. I feel that I am ready now, and I feel I am ready to accept a lot more work," she explained. The couple tied the knot in February 2012 and have two sons, Riaan, born in 2014, and Rahyl, born in 2016. 

Her recent films, including the Marathi romantic drama Ved (2022), which marked Riteish Deshmukh's directorial debut, and the Hindi comedy-drama Trial Period, have both received positive responses. Looking ahead, Genelia is set to star in the highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par, where she will share the screen with Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary. Directed by RS Prasanna, known for Shubh Mangal Savdhan, this project marks her first collaboration with Aamir Khan. The film is described as an evolved take on the beloved Taare Zameen Par. While Taare Zameen Par was a poignant film that left audiences in tears, Sitaare Zameen Par promises to offer a fresh, entertaining perspective that will leave viewers in laughter. The film is set to release on December 25, 2024.

Recently, a behind-the-scenes photo from the sets of Sitaare Zameen Par featuring Aamir Khan and Genelia went viral. The photo, which captures the two actors sharing a delightful moment, has warmed the hearts of fans worldwide. Aamir, during the promotions of Laapataa Ladies, mentioned that Sitaare Zameen Par will explore the same themes as its predecessor but with a different narrative and tone.
