Maheep Kapoor shares Shanaya's struggles after Sridevi and Mona Kapoor's deaths ahead of her debut

Maheep Kapoor has faced some challenging times recently, particularly with her daughter Shanaya’s upcoming debut in the film industry and her own health issues, including a diagnosis of Type-1 diabetes. In a candid moment on Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, she discussed with her husband, actor Sanjay Kapoor, the profound impact of Sridevi and Mona Kapoor’s deaths on their children.

In an episode, Maheep revealed that she contracted COVID-19 in December 2021, followed by a severe diagnosis of Type-1 diabetes in March 2022. She recounted a harrowing incident when she called Sanjay, feeling unwell and with her blood sugar soaring to 700, while he was in Los Angeles.

Sanjay detailed his side of things and said, “You were lucky you were immediately hospitalised. I remember Shanaya was at Mannat (Shah Rukh Khan’s home). I said, you immediately leave. I was in touch with Kannu (nephew, Mohit Marwah) constantly. Kannu literally dragged you and put you in the car. If you hadn’t gone, you could’ve gone into a coma.”

Maheep said that their nephew ‘saved her life’ and that the doctors told her she could’ve gone into organ failure. “I’ve not ever told you about the children (Shanaya, Jahaan). And how they dealt with the whole situation,” she told Sanjay, adding, “I could see it on their faces when I woke up in the ICU, they were scared. You know, somewhere, with that happened with Sri (Sridevi) and Mona, it’s affected the kids so deeply, they were in shock.”

Sanjay noted that he witnessed Shanaya mature significantly during those three days, as she took charge of phone calls, communicated with doctors, and coordinated family matters while Maheep was hospitalized. Sanjay's brother, Boney Kapoor, lost his first wife, Mona, to cancer in 2012, and his second wife, Sridevi, tragically drowned in a bathtub in Dubai in 2018.

Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, originally titled Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives for its first two seasons, premiered on Netflix in 2020. The show features a cast that includes Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, and Seema Sajdeh, with Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Shalini Passi, and Kalyani Saha Chawla joining in the third season.
