The excitement reached a crescendo at the San Diego Comic-Con as the highly anticipated film by Prabhas and director Naga Ashwin finally received its grand title and teaser launch. The much-awaited movie is officially named "Kalki 2989 AD," leaving fans eager for more.
Adding to the thrill of the event, the legendary Kamal Haasan, who will be essaying the role of the antagonist, graced the occasion. He candidly opened up about his role in the film and couldn't help but praise the iconic Amitabh Bachchan, who, though unable to attend in person, joined the event via a video call.
The camaraderie between Kamal and Amitabh was the highlight of the event. Kamal, fondly known as Ulaganayagan, expressed his deep admiration for the Bollywood legend. He said, "We are very honored to be living with Amitji's energy. We make stories, and audiences make stars. You really understand it when you see Amitabh ji, Prabhas, and Rana perform."
Kamal Haasan further gushed about Amitabh's dedication to his craft, praising the realism he brings to every role he portrays. As someone who has had the privilege of working with the great filmmaker as an assistant director on Sholay, Kamal humorously shared a funny incident. He confessed that he initially despised the film and even the filmmaker after watching it. However, his perception changed over time, and today, he feels incredibly honoured to be a part of the same film as Amitabh Bachchan, acknowledging that the veteran actor's praise for his own films was beyond his wildest imagination.
Delving into his choice to take on a negative role in "Kalki 2989 AD," Kamal Haasan shared his perspective as an actor rooted in the world of analogue cinema.
