She played the role of Nandini, the woman who brought down the Chola Emperor Aditya Karikalan with her game of love and deceit. She got the trophy from Nandamuri Balakrishna. Visuals of her touching his feet, and that of her guru Mani Ratnam have gone viral. People have praised how rooted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is despite her global superstardom. While she wore a black trench coat embellished with gold for the do, daughter Aaradhya chose a white blazer for the same.
