Happy Birthday Prachi Desai!

Today BollyCurry celebrated the birthday of a celebrity who has won millions of hearts with her charming smile and quiet persona. We, of course, are talking of none other than the ravishing Prachi Desai, who turns 24 today.

Desai hails from Surat, Gujarat, and studied at St Joseph Convent, Panchgani, where she completed her schooling until the ninth grade. After that, she traveled to Pune for higher studies and attended Sinhagad College, Vadgaon, Pune. It was during this time she became shortlisted for the lead role of Bani in the popular daily soap Kasamh Se, produced by Balaji Telefilms. Thus began her career in television.

Desai portrayed the role of Bani at just 17 years of age and went on to rule the hearts of the viewers for almost two years until she quit the show to achieve her big dream. Her first step included winning the trophy of the celebrity dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 2. Soon after, she was called to Rock On! which also marked the acting and singing debut of director and producer, Farhan Akhtar. She was paired opposite Farhan himself and the film became the perfect pedestal for her Bollywood debut, despite being an average box-office earner.

The pretty lass was next seen in Ekta Kapoor's multi-starring blockbuster hit Once Upon A Time in Mumbai opposite Emraan Hashmi. This emerged as a breakthrough in her career and fetched Desai a secure position in the film industry in a short time span. Moreover, her performance in her films garnered her with several awards including Best Debut and Best Supporting Actress in many various prestigious award functions.

Desai was later seen in the commercially successful Bol Bachchan and average grossers such as I, Me aur Mein, Life Partner and Policegiri. If sources are to be believed, she will soon be back in the sequel of her debut movie, Rock On! 2.
