Farhan Akhtar Channels Major Shaitan Singh's Valor in a Stirring Tribute to Rezang La Heroes

On the occasion of the 62nd anniversary of the Battle of Rezang La, actor-director Farhan Akhtar paid homage to the 120 soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the fierce clash of the 1962 Indo-China war.

The historic battle, fought in the freezing heights of Ladakh, saw a small contingent of Indian soldiers bravely stand their ground against an overwhelmingly larger Chinese force. Farhan, who will portray Major Shaitan Singh in the upcoming film 120 Bahadur, marked the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post.

“ Its been 62 years since 1962.Today, we honor the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the heroes of Rezang La,” he said. “Their story echoes through time… Reminding us of the price of freedom and the strength of unity, with a special salute to the Ahir community, whose sons displayed unmatched bravery in defending our nation" sharing an image of himself gripping a gun, his face smeared with blood.

On November 18, 1962, the soldiers of Charlie Company, consisting of just 120 men, defended their post at Rezang La against over 3,000 Chinese troops. Despite being heavily outnumbered and enduring brutal winter conditions, they fought valiantly, earning a revered place in India’s military history.

Farhan also acknowledged the indomitable spirit of Major Shaitan Singh and his men, who fought to the last breath despite insurmountable odds. “Its been 62 years since 1962.Today, we honor the unparalleled courage and sacrifice of the heroes of Rezang La,” he said. “Their story echoes through time… Reminding us of the price of freedom and the strength of unity, with a special salute to the Ahir community, whose sons displayed unmatched bravery in defending our nation.”

120 Bahadur, slated for release in 2025, will bring this extraordinary story of heroism to life. Directed by Razneesh Razy Ghai, the film marks Farhan Akhtar’s return to acting. The actor will step into the role of Major Shaitan Singh, PVC, a leader who epitomized courage in the face of overwhelming adversity.
