Days after Nayanthara released an open letter accusing Dhanush of demanding ?10 crore for alleged copyright infringement, the actor’s lawyer issued a firm statement. The notice warned Nayanthara and Netflix India to take down content related to the movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan from the documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours. The legal statement declared, “Advise your client to remove the infringing content from the documentary within 24 hours. If not, we will seek damages amounting to ?10 crores.” This conflict has quickly gained public attention, with fans debating both sides of the issue.
Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary, planned for release on her birthday, faced a roadblock after the notice. The actress had previously shared a heartfelt letter on Instagram. In it, she revealed that the issue arose from a three-second clip featuring behind-the-scenes visuals from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
According to Nayanthara, her team had requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) multiple times but received no approval. She wrote, “We re-edited the documentary because Dhanush denied permission for even photos or visuals.” She further expressed shock over the legal notice, stating, “It’s disappointing to see such pettiness over three seconds of BTS footage already available on social media.”
The letter also accused Dhanush of using the situation to malign her image, calling his actions “an all-time low.” This public spat has divided fans, with some criticizing the legal notice as unnecessary while others support Dhanush’s right to protect his intellectual property.
As the drama unfolds, Nayanthara’s fans eagerly await updates. Will the matter escalate further, or will both parties reach a compromise? This battle between two South Indian cinema giants has certainly added unexpected drama to the release of Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale.
Only time will tell if this legal tussle ends amicably or fuels a larger debate on copyright issues in the entertainment industry.
