Talking
about a woman's age is known to be rude, but celebrating her birthday is made equally polite,
and exciting! This week BollyCurry is rejoicing the birthday of one such
person, who is a Tinsel-Town star, and shimmers her glitter world-wide.
Lara Dutta Bhupathi, celebrates her birthday on the 16th April every year.
Born to a Punjabi father, Wind Commander LK Dutta, and Anglo-Indian mother
Jennifer Dutta, Lara has two other sisters, and is also a cousin of Music Composer and DJ
Nitin Sawhney. She completed her basic education in Bangalore, and further pursued her
graduation in economics from Bombay University.
Lara won
the Gladrags Megamodel Competition in 1995, and once again emerged as
the winner of Miss International Pageant 1997. She was also further
titled Femina Miss India
Universe in 2000, the second Indian woman to achieve the status. The
famous quote "Beauty with Brains" is surely proven in Lara after
considering the fact that she has scored the highest grades
in the history of a Miss Universe competition. It is indeed an
outstanding achievement.
Lara made
her debut in Bollywood with the movie Andaaz
(2003). This movie brought her the very first Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. Although her initial movies did
not garner much success neither at the box office, nor in the hearts of the
audience; her lucky ticket to success was marked by her roles in the super-hit
comedy flicks including No Entry and Masti. Since then, Lara has never looked
back, as she climbed the ladders of victory, one by one, at a stretch.
A few 'Did you know?' Facts about Lara Dutta:
- She has lent her mesmerizing voice for the animated movie Jumbo.
- She has produced a Bollywood movie, Chalo Dilli staring Vinay Pathak and herself in 2011. The movie also managed to rope in Akshay Kumar for a guest appearance!
- Till date, Lara has completed 31 movies to her credit, including her special appearances, cameos and her Tamil movies.
Moving on to her personal life, Lara
married the Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi in a typical civil ceremony on 16th
February 2011, which was later followed by a Christian ceremony on 20th
February 2011. She gave birth to an angelic daughter on 20th January
2012, and lovingly named her Saira.
