Rohit Shetty’s new release, Singham Again, has stirred a lot of excitement among fans. The director, famous for his high-energy cop films, is now fueling further enthusiasm by teasing sequels for both Sooryavanshi and Simmba. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Shetty confirmed his plans for Sooryavanshi 2 starring Akshay Kumar and Simmba 2 featuring Ranveer Singh, promising more action-packed stories in the future.
During the PinkVilla interview, Shetty, along with Ajay Devgn, answered fans’ most anticipated questions. One fan, an Akshay Kumar admirer, asked about Sooryavanshi 2, especially after Akshay’s cameo in Singham Again. Shetty teased the idea of a sequel but added, “It will take time. Again, a cop film will take a bit of time, maybe a year or so. But yes, after that, I will plan. It’s too early to say which one I will start first."
The possibility of a Simmba 2 crossover with Shetty's Golmaal series also caught fans' attention. Shetty laughed off the idea, saying, “That will become too much. Mere pe taras khao. (Have mercy on me!). This universe coming here, that universe going there." He then reassured fans, saying, “Simmba will happen, obviously; it’s one of the most loved characters in the cop universe." However, he also mentioned, “We’ll concentrate on comedy first and then come back to it, because constantly making cop films since Simmba in 2018 might be too much for the audience as well."
The Sooryavanshi film introduced Akshay Kumar as DCP Veer Sooryavanshi, a brave officer dedicated to anti-terrorism. The film also showcased memorable appearances from Ajay Devgn as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba, strengthening Shetty’s cop universe.
In Simmba, Ranveer Singh’s character, Sangram Bhalerao, is a flawed officer who redeems himself, with Sara Ali Khan in the lead role. This film added thrilling action and a powerful redemption arc to Shetty’s universe. Meanwhile, his Golmaal series, known for its humor and ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, and Tusshar Kapoor, continues to entertain audiences with its comic chaos.
With his signature mix of action and comedy, Shetty’s universes captivate fans, and his upcoming projects promise even more excitement.
