Govinda’s Wife Sunita Ahuja Reveals She Converted to Christianity for Wine

Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, recently opened up about her baptism as a child and the motivations behind it.

In an interview on the Time Out with Ankit YouTube channel, Sunita shared insights into her diverse socio-economic and cultural background. She described herself as being half-Punjabi and half-Nepali and revealed that she was baptized when she started attending school. This was done secretly, as she had heard that wine was served during mass and wanted to experience it. She also mentioned that she observes various fasts and visits different places of worship.

Sunita said, “I was born in Bandra and was baptized. I attended a Christian school, and all my friends were Christians. As a child, I heard that Jesus’ blood is wine, and I thought to myself, ‘Wine means alcohol.’ I was always very curious. I thought, ‘There’s no harm in having a drink, is there?’ Just to taste some wine, I got myself baptized. I follow Christianity and go to church every Saturday.”

She added that she also visits dargahs, gurudwaras, and temples. When asked if her parents were upset by her decision, she replied that they never found out. Sunita noted that she fasts during the week and abstains from meat on those days. She also discussed the cultural differences between her and Govinda, saying, “I went from wearing miniskirts to sarees. That’s why my husband used to dislike me. I would tell him, ‘I’m from Bandra, you’re from Virar.’ And he’d say, ‘No, my mother won’t like it.’”

During the interview, Sunita was asked if she would be interested in participating in the controversial reality TV show Bigg Boss. She revealed that she has been offered a spot for the past few years. “They’ve been making me offers for the last four years, including the OTT version hosted by Anil Kapoor. They approached me twice for that, and I told them, ‘Are you mad? You think I clean toilets?’ You ask me this question, but tell me, would you ask Shah Rukh Khan’s wife the same thing? Do you think we’re struggling financially? I don’t even watch Bigg Boss.”
