Ex-Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray Admitted to Hospital

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has been admitted to Reliance Hospital in Mumbai for a routine check-up. He is undergoing tests to check for blockages in his heart's arteries. According to sources, he is likely to undergo angiography as part of the process.

Thackeray has a history of heart procedures. On Monday, at around 8 a.m., the check-up began to detect any blockages in the coronary arteries. The doctors are conducting tests to ensure his heart is functioning well, and further action, like angiography, may be taken based on the results.

In 2016, Thackeray had undergone an angiography at Lilavati Hospital. This was part of the follow-up for his earlier angioplasty on July 20, 2012, where doctors had placed eight stents to clear blockages in three arteries.

Later in November 2012, he underwent a second angioplasty to remove a 60% blockage in his left anterior descending artery. At that time, his son, Aditya Thackeray, had clarified that the procedure was pre-planned.

Dr. Mathew Kalarical from Lilavati Hospital had explained, “After angioplasty, we usually do an angiogram within one or two years to check if the stents are working fine. The same was done for Uddhav."

“All the stents are functioning well with normal blood flow. This means he can resume his regular active lifestyle without any restrictions," Dr. Kalarical added, according to PTI reports.
