Devara starring Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan, had a successful first week at the Hindi box office, collecting Rs 43 crore. The film, directed by Koratala Siva, managed to make a strong impression, especially in the absence of any Bollywood releases. The movie’s second week looks promising as it coincides with festival time, ensuring a steady flow of audiences.
The film opened with Rs 7.50 crore in its Hindi version and gained momentum over the weekend, reaching Rs 26.5 crore by Sunday. Although Devara faced a sharp decline on Monday, the film recovered mid-week. With Gandhi Jayanti on Tuesday and a holiday on Wednesday, the collections surged, allowing the movie to close its first week on a high note. As per estimates, the film collected Rs 2.25 crore on Thursday, bringing the total to Rs 43 crore.
Globally, Devara has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark, performing particularly well in the northern regions of India, especially in single screens and non-multiplex chains. This strong performance highlights Jr NTR’s immense popularity among the masses. The absence of any Bollywood competition due to poor scheduling by the Hindi film industry also played a crucial role in the film’s box office success.
Devara: Part 1 follows the story of a feared and respected man who rules over four coastal villages. He starts as a dacoit but eventually renounces crime and becomes a legend. His role is portrayed by Jr NTR, while Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan play important characters in the film.
The story also introduces Devara’s son, Vara, who tries to live a life that contrasts his father’s dark legacy. The film builds suspense as Devara’s enemies try to bring him down, unaware that he is still hiding among them, ready to defend his honor.
