'Devara - Part 1' soars as 2024’s second-highest grosser; eyes for a 300 crore milestone after day 3

As per trackers, 'Devara - Part 1' has already become the second-highest grossing Indian film of 2024, behind only Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD.

Devara Part 1

Devara: Part 1, starring Jr. NTR, has taken the box office by storm, marking his much-anticipated return as a solo lead after six years. Directed by Koratala Siva, the film has generated immense buzz since its announcement, especially due to the successful collaboration between Jr. NTR and Siva after Janatha Garage. Expectations were sky-high, but few could have predicted the scale of the film’s success in its opening weekend.

The film made an explosive start, raking in Rs 82.5 crore at the domestic box office on its first day. Globally, Devara opened to an impressive Rs 172 crore. By the end of its first weekend, the movie had accumulated an additional Rs 78.5 crore domestically, with the collections on Sunday slightly surpassing Saturday. In total, Devara managed to cross the Rs 275 crore mark worldwide by the end of its opening weekend.

According to Comscore, Devara: Part 1 debuted in second place at the global box office, behind The Wild Robot but ahead of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Transformers One. Over the weekend, Devara earned an impressive $32.9 million, securing its position as a major success in the Indian film industry. Although the collections on Day 2 and Day 3, at Rs 38.5 crore and Rs 40.3 crore respectively, saw a drop from Day 1, this is not uncommon after a film’s opening day. Notably, Devara had special early morning screenings, contributing to its massive first-day performance.

The movie has already become the second-highest grossing Indian film of 2024, behind only Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD. Despite the drop in figures after Day 1, the strong numbers on Sunday give hope that the movie will continue to perform well during the weekdays. It’s expected to surpass the ?300 crore mark globally very soon.

For Jr. NTR and director Koratala Siva, Devara has already become the biggest success of their careers. As audiences eagerly await the next installment, the film’s momentum is expected to grow. With such a strong opening, all eyes are now on Devara: Part 2, which promises to continue the action-packed saga and further solidify its place in Indian cinema.
