Anuja Sathe: Juggling Between Ashraf and Sapna Was The Most Difficult Thing For Me

Ek Thi Begum starring Ankit Mohan, Anuja Sathe, Abhijeet Chawan and Ajay Gedi in lead roles is streaming on MX Player. The Bilingual series has garnered a massive fan following owing to the interesting storyline of the revenge drama and supremely talented cast. 

We at India Forums got in a candid conversation with the female lead of Ek Thi Begum, Anuja Sathe. The actress threw some light on her character in the show, challenges she faced playing Ashraf and a lot more.

Here are the excerpts from the interview:- 

1)Firstly, tell me something about Ashraf/ Sapna in Ek Thi Begum?

 Ashraf is a very simple lady who is very innocent for the evil world out there. When she loses her husband and her unborn child for all the wrong reasons that is when she decides to step in the world of evils and fight against them. She goes to the Police first to fight against the wrong in a fair manner but when she feels this world is eviler than she thought Ashraf chooses the other path. 

2)What challenges did you face while playing the lead character since the show witnesses a huge character transition from Ashraf to Sapna?

Ashraf, as I said earlier is a simple girl and Sapna, on the other hand, is more outgoing and bold. These are two different personalities. The switch from Ashraf to Sapna and vice versa was very difficult for me. It required me to juggle between two characters every now and then and that was the most difficult part.

3)What compelled you to take up Ek Thi Begum as your Digital debut show?

Well, firstly it is a women-centric show. I have always been someone who is open to new challenges. I am always up for anything that requires me to leave my comfort zone. I like to portray strong characters. That reflects me as a person. This has been a common thread in all the roles I have taken up.

4)How would you feel if your Hindi Television debut show Tamanna is re-aired on Television?

 I have been receiving messages where people are asking me if Tamanna will be re-aired on Television now. I would love to watch the show again. Tamanna was a critically acclaimed show and people loved it on TV. It would be great for people to watch the show all over again.

5)Would you like to see Ek Thi Begum on Television after being released digitally?

Television is for everyone but the same cannot be said for Digital medium. Why do you need to do that? Television and Digital are two different platforms and there is a reason why every show is made on for respective platforms, so we should respect that line.

Signing off, Anuja said that if people follow the rules laid by the government are followed properly life will get back to normal soon.
