Hello readers and very spooky welcome
to the new month of October. This month, your dear BollyCurry has gone all out
in bringing in a great a feast for you. With Autumn falling it's golden leaves,
the cold nights sleeping in early, the distressing dark bringing in its tales
of fright and finishing off with Halloween reigning in at the end of the month,
we could not think of a more perfect theme than of 'horror'. Yes, horror.
The barbaric, terrorising, panic-inducing feeling we all loath yet secretly
admire.
To kick-start the vicious month,
BollyCurry presents to you the top ten most haunting melodies of Bollywood of
recent times. In no particular order, indulge in your scares of the
below and let those chills flow!
Kaisa Yeh Raaz Hai
Raaz-The
Mystery Continues
Sung by the much-loved voice of KK,
this track itself is a quest to solve a mystery. The lyricist, Sayeed Qadri,
aptly captures the essence of the song in the wordings styled like no other,
but what elevates it to a whole new level is the music composed by Pranay M
Rijia. The very first beat sets off a spooky, gloomy and mysterious mood which
continues deliciously throughout the melody.
Rasiya
Sung by Shruti Pathak and composed by
the famous duo of Salim-Suleiman, this song is aimed to be a sexy, seductive
number, and how brilliantly it is. But give the tune half an ear and
you can't escape the haunting vibe that lurks in each nook and cranny.
Do Pyaar
The song is picturised on a couple lost
in the deep fathoms of a jungle infamous for sheltering a ruthless smuggler. If
the situation wasn't haunting enough, this song composed by Sandeep Chowta adds
to the eeriness of the scene. Spooky and gruesome in every sense, Sonu
Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan's voice modulation also plays a big part in lending
this melody it's spectral essence.
Mar Jawaan
A heart-wrenching piece of
composition by Salim-Suleiman and sung in the deep waves of Shruti Pathak's
voice, the undercurrents of this song lies in a young woman's yearning for
love. However, the music, though a little too caressing to be spooky,
is still capable of sending chills down the spine and dislodging the soul.
Pyar Tune
Kya Kiya
This version of the song may not be as
popular as the foot tapping one, but if you've seen Isha and Salman's
performance on the recently finished Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5, you know what we're talking about! The
intriguing tune by Sandeep Chowta, sung by K.S. Chitra, and the
lyrics, which are as romantic and simplistic as it can get, by Nitin Raikwar will definitely transport you to
horror land - a ghastly place where only broken hearts lay.
Suna
Suna (Bepanah Pyaar Hai Aaja)
Krishna
Cottage
Now who doesn't know this song sung by
the bubbly Shreya Ghosal? The slow unravelling of the song is a
beauty in itself. The contemporary style of it marks it
out drastically from the rest of the haunting melodies in the world.
The music director, Anu Malik, has definitely produced a fascinating score,
making it one of the best haunting melodies that reflect upon the circumstances
of the characters and the story line to be present in Indian cinema.
Zara Zara
Rehna Hai
Tere Dil Mein
From the start to the finish, Bombay
Jayashri has done a mesmerizing job in demanding your attention and
carrying the adverse notes while the background music simply adds the thrill to
the song, making it ever more enchantingly haunting. One can listen to it for a
long time without being spooked, yet, at the same time, your heart is captured
in a web of chills. A song that will last in your hearts and for generations
to come.
Bhoot Hoon Main
Sung by yet another famous artist,
Sunidhi Chauhan. Personally, the movie had us freaked to a point where we plain
refused to give the song another listen. Yes, it can be that evocative! One thing
for sure, the purpose of the song has surely reached its viewers and one can
approve it to be the haunting melody it is sketched out to be.
O Saathi Re
Yes, it's sensual. Yes, it's romantic.
But how can we listen to this composition by Vishal Bhardwaj, who has lent his
deep compelling vocals to the track coupled with Shreya Ghoshal, and not be
touched with a sense of foreboding? An
eerie ambiance rides throughout the tune making you wait in
restless anxiety of what will happen next ' a game we're neither too fond of
playing.
Awaara
Sung by Master Saleem, this is one of
those slow pieces which pitches itself as nothing else but a perfect haunting
melody. The tenacity of the movie can clearly be grasped weaving in and out of
the tune through the relentless flow of music and the lyrics serving
as a horrific finale touch.
