Chapter 3
After closing the door Abhira sat down distressingly. She can feel Armaan still cares for her. But she cannot forget whatever happened in the past. She could not accept a guy who just kept standing as a mute spectator while his family kept hurling all sorts of degrading accusations at her and her mother. She had lived her life with dignity all along and she would never make a compromise with her self-respect. Armaan has lost her respect and trust. He was angry at her for not revealing Charu's affair but did he tell her about his past with Ruhi? Ruhi is/was his lover. She doesn't know if they still love each other, even after Ruhi's marriage with Rohit. But if they are planning to get married then it simply means they are still together, and that is something that puts a big question mark on Armaan's character. It's hard for her to believe that the sweet and caring Armaan she knew could be this cruel to his brother. She wanted to talk to Armaan and understand his side of the story. A coin always has two sides. Similarly, there might be a different angle to Armaan's story with Ruhi. But what right does she have to question Armaan? Now they are strangers living under the same roof. So she decided to stay quiet and tried to forget that she ever fell in love with this guy.
Over the next few weeks, Manisha Chachi also warmed up to Abhira. She knocked on her door one evening and they sat talking about the past. She was not angry with Abhira and patiently listened to her side of the story. Though she was not okay with Charu's affair, she did understand why Abhira stayed quiet. She never encouraged Charu but asked her to disclose the truth to Armaan ASAP. Later during their conversation, Manisha Chachi mentioned Ruhi's closeness to Armaan but Abhira decided to stay quiet. It's not her place to say anything. Armaan and Ruhi will eventually tell the family, as they plan to get married soon.
In the next few weeks, Armaan tried to talk to Abhira several times but she maintained her distance. There was no point in having any conversation between them. Their marriage was over. They just need the official seal to end it on paper too.
The days went by quickly and finally, it was time for her departure. She has already found a PG for herself where she will be staying after leaving the Poddar house. Today they will have the final verdict of their divorce proceeding. It was a new beginning for her. So she decided to visit the Ganesha temple and get his blessing for this new journey of her life. While she was returning from the court she noticed Dadisa walking stealthily towards an auto with a small briefcase in her hand. It felt very odd to her, so she decided to follow her. She stopped her auto a little away from Dadisa's so she won't notice her. The place seems like an abandoned warehouse. On moving ahead she noticed a few armed men. So she quickly hid herself behind a bush. Suddenly a man appeared in front of Dadisa. Abhira was shocked, he was the same guy who saved her from the blast. OMG!!! He was her kidnapper and was now blackmailing Dadisa. She got alert, but first, she had to put her phone on silent mode. She doesn't want to alert the kidnappers. She decided to message Madhav-papa. She also sent him a missed call and decided to record everything on her phone. What she heard left her shocked and speechless. Dadisa was hiding a big truth about Armaan's life. A truth that was connected to three lives- Armaan, Vidhya, and Madhav. It was hardly a few minutes, and she heard the police siren. That's good but how come police reached here so soon? Unless they already got a cue from someone else, even before she messaged Madhav Papa.
The sudden commotion alerted the kidnapper and he got very angry with Kaveri.
Kidnaper: Kaveri devi, apne yeh achcha nahi kiya! I told you not to involve the police. But, you didn't listen to me.
Kaveri: Humara yakin karo. Humne poilce ko nahi bulaya.
The kidnapper pushed Dadisa and forcefully took the bag of money from her. Police were moving around the area. Suddenly, Abhira noticed a Gunman targeting Dadisa. Dadisa never accepted her but she cannot let her die like this. She always tried to find her own Grandma in her. She also remembered how her mother was shot by Yuvraj and how she lost her. She cannot let the same thing happen to Madhav Papa. Not on her watch. So she jumped in front of Dadisa and bravely took the bullet that was meant for Dadisa.
Kaveri (with constant tears in her eyes): Abhira! Yeh tumne kya kiya!
The kidnapper and his accomplice were caught by the police after some hustle and fight. Madhav came running towards Abhira. She was half lying on the ground with her forehead in Dadisa's lap
Kaveri: Madhav! Abhira.. please save her. Humari bachi ko kuch nahi hona chahiye.
Abhira (in broken voice): Papa...
Madhav: Guards! call the ambulance immediately. My daughter is shot! Abhira, why did you do this?
Abhira: I know how it feels to lose one's mother. I cannot let you go through the same pain...
Saying this she lost her consciousness.
Dadisa kept sitting on the ground caressing Abhira's forehead lovingly. Madhav was trying to stop the blood flow. He knew basic first aid to handle such situations from his police training. Abhira was shot in her shoulder. He knew she would survive but he needed to stop the blood flow before the Ambulance arrived. He has already alerted the nearby hostel to be ready for his signal, in case of any emergency. The ambulance should arrive there soon.
Dadisa was shocked to witness everything that happened just a few minutes ago. The girl she disliked so much and wanted out of her family didn't take a moment to take the bullet that was meant for her. That too when she was going to divorce Armaan and was about to become a stranger to her family. Somewhere in a corner of her heart she always admired Abhira for her strength of character and fearlessness. She also accepted her as Armaan's wife. However, Charu's case, the deal marriage, and her orthodox views on life didn't let her appreciate the bright qualities of Abhira. Now that she looks back, she is ashamed of herself. How did she fail to notice such a pure soul? Such selflessness and fearlessness are hard to find in this world. She knew Abhira was not greedy for money but she never thought she could be this selfless. That too for her. A person who never showed even an ounce of respect, love, and care towards her. She felt miserable and ashamed of herself. Right now she was feeling so small in front of this brave girl. She was hoping it wasn't too late to seek forgiveness. Forgiveness for insulting her and her mother. She also decided to cherish Abhira and accept her as family. She cannot let Abhira go away from her family now. There won't be any divorce between Abhira and Armaan!
