🏏ICC Women's T20I WC 2024: England vs Scotland: Group B - Match 17 - at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah on 13/10/2024 @ 3:30 PM IST🏏

Scotland's chances of progressing to the next round may have come to an end, but with the qualification for the next World Cup in line, there is enough for them to ensure that they don't end their T20 World Cup campaign without a win. Their last chance to get points on the table is up against their neighbours, England.

Even though the two teams have never played each other previously, there is ample County Championship experience in the Scottish side, and would a secret or two about some of the individual players in the opposition.

On paper, the two teams are as separated as possible, but with Group B likely to tussle it out on a Net Run Rate scenario, the Katheryn Bryce-led side would like to make the campaign as difficult as possible for England. The conditions in Sharjah especially has been conducive for teams batting first. Not that it should make much of a difference for Sunday's afternoon clash, but Scotland would want as much going their way as possible in what is expected to be a one-sided affair.

So far, Heather Knight & Co. have been able to neatly master the conditions and put their strong spin attack to effective use. Despite the good showing by Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Nat Sciver-Brunt, there would be some concerns on the batting front for England, but they would look to use this contest as good opportunity to iron those out.

What they said:

It was always going to be difficult playing such good teams and they've obviously had a lot more experience than we have but you know like we need to keep backing ourselves, we need to keep backing our abilities regardless of the names on the team sheet and so I think that's probably one of the biggest learnings that we need to take away is just to continue to back ourselves and believe in ourselves - Abtaha Maqsood, Scotland

It's going to be a day game, which is going to be quite tough for the Scots and for us there. I don't know how they've got the short end of the stick there but yes it's going to be a tough challenge in these conditions and hopefully our professionalism can get us out on top - Heather Knight, England
