In the defeat to England, South Africa struggled with the bat during the middle overs and then failed to exert as much control with their spinners later in the evening. And that, plus the batting position of Marizanne Kapp, as Firdose Moonda writes, could be in sharp focus.

As for South Africa, a win might take them to the top of the table and, it goes without saying, they will have a keen eye on improving their NRR should they find themselves in a position to do so. A loss to South Africa will add a lot of spice to the group as that would mean 4 teams on 2 points each with England inching slightly closer to the semis spot. Lots of permutations and combinations as you'd expect in any global tournament, but all of that for later. For now, all eyes will be on pitch and potential team changes. Let's see who gets it right at the toss, stick around...

Chasing has definitely been the more successful gig at Dubai this T20 World Cup, with three out of four matches being won by the side batting second. Chasing teams also have a 100% record so far in day games at this venue. Will the captain winning the toss want to bowl first then? Toss in 5.

Could be a crucial day at the Women's T20 World Cup. Ashish Pant, in his preview, provides a lowdown of what to expect and what implications the results could have.

Kathryn Bryce | Scotland skipper: Need to start off really well with the ball and put them under pressure. Pitch looks different from other day, around that 140 mark would be ideal to chase down. No changes for us.

Laura Wolvaardt | South African skipper: We gonna have a bat first, we did well here chasing here last time. The pitch looks dry and we want to give our best chance to win the game today and that is runs on the board. We are going with the same team.

Pitch Report: A high of 37 degree Celsius, which feels like 45-50 degrees, says Pommie Mbangwa. 57m and 63m square boundaries, meaning there is a slight bias. 73m hit straight down the ground. Spin has held sway so far and playing with the turn could be key for the batters, reckons WV Raman. It is a low-bounce surface, adds Raman.

Pitch report: "37 degrees (the temperature) right now. Dimensions - 57 and 63 square, 73 metres straight down the ground. Even though there is a bit of grass, it looks a bit dry. The batters need to play with the turn and use their bottom hand. Need to work the ball around and push the fielders in the deep, because this is a low bounce surface, so playing across the line would be risky," reckon WV Raman and Pommie Mbangwa.

When: Match 11 - Wednesday, October 9 at 2:00 PM local time

Where: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai

What to expect: In the four matches hosted by Dubai so far, teams chasing have won three times, and did so comfortably barring India's win against Pakistan which took them 18.5 overs in a chase of 106. South Africa know the conditions, having played their opening match against West Indies here, and, as admitted by their captain, prefer Dubai to Sharjah. They might look to chase again, given their bid to improve the Net Run Rate.
