KR star Venkatesh Iyer ties the knot with Shruti Raghunathan; pictures go viral

Kolkata Knight Riders’ star Venkatesh Iyer exchanged marital vows and tied the knot with Shruti Raghunathan. The all-rounder was a part of the IPL 2024 winning side led by Shreyas Iyer, where they defeated Pat Cummins’ SunRisers Hyderabad to lift the title for the third time. After bringing the title home, Iyer got married to his fiancé Shruti Raghunathan in a traditional South Indian wedding ceremony on Sunday, June 2. 

Venkatesh and Shruti’s wedding ceremony was graced by their respective family members and friends. The couple had got engaged in November 2023. The pictures of the couple’s wedding ceremony started going viral on social media, and wishes poured in for the newly-weds from fans across the world. 

According to Indian Express, Shruti is a Merchandise Planner and works at Lifestyle International Private Limited in Bengaluru. She pursued her B.Com degree from the PSG College of Arts and Science and holds a Master’s degree in Fashion Management 

West Indies begin their campaign against Papua New Guinea, marking the first encounter between the two sides.

The West Indies have had an impressive run leading up to the World Cup. The did a a 3-0 whitewash of South Africa and have also secured victories against India, defending champions England, and Australia in recent months.

Captain Powell expressed his confidence ahead of the event, ready to embrace the expectations and pressures that come with hosting a World Cup while also recognizing the historic opportunity that lies ahead for his team.  

“And I think over the duration of the last 12 months or so, we have played some very good cricket right across the world. And such, that has improved our T20 rankings to being fourth in the world.

“It's a team that has confidence. It's a team that understands and know how to play T20 cricket. So hopefully, during the duration of this World Cup, we can show that.”

Powell also acknowledged his team's recent success, which has propelled them to the fourth spot on the ICC Men's Team T20I Rankings before the tournament.

Sloggers key for West Indies

Nicolas Pooran will play a pivotal role in the middle-order, but West Indies boast additional firepower with Powell, Andre Russell, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, and Romario Shepherd, making them one of the most formidable batting line-ups in the tournament. Russell has been in exceptional form, both with bat and ball, after aiding Kolkata Knight Riders in clinching their third IPL title recently.
