There was one newly married couple in our neighborhood. The girl was very good looking, yet her marriage was done through kidnapping the guy and forcefully marrying them by the girl's family. Pakadwa vivah I think it's called.
Also one of my colleague told that people used to send their boys in other states to study in fear that they will be kidnapped and married off ...
