He had become subdued over the next month, not that Prachiwas monitoring him. She wasn’t the only one who noticed a change in him, everyone in college was talking about his 360 turn. The guy who warmly greeted and talked to everyone, and suddenly become quiet. His focus, either in football, his music or in books. Books. The boy who hated studying was now focusing on books. He hardly talked to anyone, when he did, it was just a polite smile and half-hearted replies. He had even broken up with Rhea. No one knew the reason, despite the breakup occurring in college. Everyone just saw Rhea storm away in a fit, and Ranbir apologizing on her behalf before walking off in the other direction. He didn’t revert to his player ways either, he had stopped innocently flirting with girls. Ranbir only kept to himself now.
The change was not only in college but also at work. Prachi had quit her job in the company after Rhea exposed her plan of Ranbir breaking her heart. Disha massi had helped her get another job instead, where she was able to do her work in peace. However, she still kept updated on what was happening at the office through Rishi. Not that Prachi enquired about Ranbir. Rishi would just bring up his workload from time to time, especially recently since it had increased. Apparently, Ranbir had taken more of a workload from his father and started to put stress on the employees to be more productive.
Prachi tried not to think about the fact that his change in demeanor occurred since the ball night. But she couldn’t ignore it, either. She hated the change in him. She missed the old him. Reminiscing her memories with him, she remembered the conversation she had about her ideal man and how he could never be it. Her ideal man didn’t flirt with every girl that he meant, someone who was simple and focused. She would never describe Ranbir as simple, he still dressed impeccably, he still was into his cars but he had quietened down remarkably. He wasn’t his bundle of energy, and she didn’t like that. He suddenly wasn't trying to be the casanova that he always portrayed himself as, but that also meant she wasn't able to witness his ability to make everyone around him smile. His charm was lost, and she didn’t like that either. He had become focused on his academics and work, but he had lost his smile. Despite him breaking her heart, not seeing him smile also broke her heart and she hated herself for it. She didn’t like this Ranbir version 2.0. She missed the guy who would look down before he'd lick bottom lip and smile wholeheartedly, even his teeth sparkingly in the glee of the smile.

He knew everyone was worried about him, from his parents, to his chief, to his colleagues. Yet he had to keep busy every second of the day. Keeping busy was the only way of not thinking about her. He felt alone and the worst part was that he brought this loneliness upon himself. His only relief was his sleep in which he couldn't stop Prachi from appearing in his dreams. His dreams were bittersweet, on one hand, allowing him to dream about a possible future with the girl that he loved, but on the other hand, also reminding him that Prachi herself shut down the possibility of all his dreams coming to life.
Ranbir 2.0.. Interesting.. Kinda feel sorry for him now though.. Would prachi bring his "smile" back?..

Part 6
It was the last day of college for the year. The final class over. His heart dropped over the fact that he wouldn’t be able to see her over the break. He hardly saw her now, trying to preoccupy his head with anything except her. Yet, when he wasn’t in control of himself, he felt his gaze linger towards her, watching her subtle expressions as she listened to the teacher talk. He’d watch her lips slightly curve when she understood what was going on, or she slightly scrunches her nose when she didn’t understand. She was so cute, without even trying..No wonder he always had to go against the line of Prachi’s lovers. She was so perfect that people were bound to notice. Except him, because as Prachi would say he didn’t have a brain. He had noticed her adorable quirks before, but he hadn’t realised the moments when he had just enjoyed her animated-ness was because he was in awe of her beauty and not just being shocked that she was spending time with her and not being a lecturer. He would brush his behaviour off, not delving behind the reason he was mesmerized by her so much other than the fact that he ‘liked’ being her friend. He was in love with her longer than he realised.
He was the last one to leave the room, but as he stepped towards the door, he crashed into someone. He didn’t need to see her to know who it was, he knew it was her as soon as he held onto her arms in an effort to save them both from falling onto the ground. However, that effort meant that he now was against a wall, with her pressed onto him, her arms against his chest. Their eyes glued onto each other. For the briefest moment, everything was a standstill, him in his arms as he swam in the depth of her warm brown eyes, her the same. He didn’t realise he was holding his breath until Prachi stepped back, the moment broken, as reality sunk back in.
He saw her about to apologise, but he cut to the chase.
“Sorry,” Ranbir whispered. To an outsider, the apology wasnormal, but the apology held the weight of months of guilt that he knew Prachi wouldn’t be able to sense. But he didn’t blame her, he had hurt her so much. Before he could hear her reply, he stepped out.

She had stepped back into the room to get her pen. A pen that she had left on purpose, as a ruse to talk to him and find out why he was acting so strange all of the sudden. She, however, wasn’t expecting to crash into him. Being in his hold, just reminded her of the easier times between them. Stepping back, she brought her out of her the emotions those memories evoked.
She was about to tell him that she wanted to talk to him, but he cut her to the chase and apologised before leaving. She gawked at the empty space he occupied for a second, before chasing behind him. Quickening her strides, she grabbed his arm.
“Mere saath chalo do minute,” Prachi instructed, but Ranbir didn’t budge, slightly confused. “Arrecome with me, Ranbir,” Prachi rearticulated her point. This time, he didn’t resist her hold, silently following her as she dragged him into the classroom, just like he did to her countless times before.
Prachi and ranbir "talk"..

Aww feeling bad for ranbir but he himself is at fault. He brought this upon himself. Loved the both chapters. Can't wait to read the next one.
