Dr. Strange
Perhaps the most visually satisfying movie of the year... I have never liked Benedict in any role outside Sherlock, but he is perfectly awesome here 😆

Tilda Swinton is a true chameleon... You hear all these lead stars talking about versatility and they haven't got 10% range as some brilliant actors

What is disappointing are two things. One the film has the most basic of basic plots, reminded me of Sorcerer' apprentice, just that that guy was opposite of Strange in personality. Second, Dr. Strange is a game breaker. Why have any other avengers if you have Dr. Strange. The Phoenix in X-Men struggles to control her powers and is unreliable so she is still fine, but Strange can reverse time and play with reality with full control.

The girl on the train:

Good and strong in some parts, total sh*tfest in others.Emily Blunt deserves every bit of praise she got for playing Rachael so excellently. From the first second to the last she was just flawless, definitely the best thing about movie. This movie made me realize what a classic Gone Girl is.

2.5/5 just for Emily's power packed performance.

Watched The Gift (2015)

It's a very good thriller up until the climax! The plot is mainly about a couple and a childhood friend of the husband. The climax creeped me out though! It has to be one of the creepiest psychological thrillers ever! I am literally disturbed.
It's neither gory , nor anything ugly. Just simply mind boggling. The movie would keep you on the edge of your seat , and you would find yourself guessing what happens next! The ending is a little abiguous I felt. However I can understand which ending most people would like to take as a suitable climax.

Watch it if you're a fan of thriller and psychology genres. Also at the end the name of the movie would look more significant to you.

Shivaay: Nice story with good action scenes.
This should be watched on big screen for the enchanting visuals of the himalayas. AD as director is fab.

AD is the star of the movie along with the little girl. Aww the father daughter duo were so lovable and their bonding was beautiful.

Sayyesha also is kinda beautiful too but she did not have anything much to in the movie.
Vir Das parts were fun 😃

Doctor Strange.
What could it have been? The visuals are truly stunning(a first for a marvel movie). Guardians had a few great scenes but that was it.

Now coming to the story, it ends up being your average run of the mill marvel movie. They had the opportunity to do something totally fresh but they blew it. The jokes are out of place, feel forced and some of them even bring the movie down.

Marvel needs to fix their villain problem, its getting embarrassing. When you have Madz Mikkelson and you can't put out a memorable antagonist, there is a big problem.

The performances are great though across the board and Benedict makes a great Steven Strange.

6/10. That's +1 for the visuals.

A side note;
I find is fascinating that Marvel who are getting many things on point can't for the life of them write a good antagonist.

DC on the other hand is three movies in and yet we have Lex Luthor (I loved this take on the character, his lines are pure gold, credit to Terrio for that), Zod and Amanda Waller(she was pure evil, the only good thing about SS for me) already.

Not to derail the review thread, but as a fan of superhero movies this did catch my attention.

Marvel does lack on the antagonistic front. Their villains are weak or poorly developed. The major exceptions to these would be Magneto, Mystique and Loki. In my personal opinion Magneto is a character who more than makes up for all other poorly etched antagonists. He is so enchantingly grey. He manages to evoke sympathy even when he is evil. Mystique is another great marvel character. Even though her First Class arc is more protagonistic she is another classic grey character.

I think part of the difference lies in Marvel and DC comics in the first place. Marvel comics focused on heroes portrayed as more or less good. DC comics focused on characters. Even DC heroes, especially Batman are a lot more grey and questionable than good. Although I think with the Civil War story line and the latest issues of Captain America, Marvel is doing a better job at twisting their heroes. Who needs antagonists when you can pit protagonists against each otehr?
