Mirat ul Uroos, we have all loved for years. It was dramatized decades back, and now it is back on our screen once again to entertain us. This time it is hip, happening, and different, but it still promises wholesome entertainment. Does it live up to the expectations, or fail? Read on to find out.

Story : It is the story of two bothers Luqman and Hatim who live in different countries, and decide to get their children married. Luqman has two sons Akbar and Asghar who are different from each other, and Hatim has two daughters Akbari and Asghari, both poles apart.Once they know they have to tie the knot the ride begins.
The story as most of us know by heart now offers a lot of twists, and turns. It looks good on paper, and has a lot of scope. Being a remake/adaptations, it becomes little hard to meet expectations at times. Lets read more.
I would also like to mention that there are some fun side tracks. Some of them work, and some of them do not. The BJ track in my opinion holds your attention most of the time, due to the emotions hidden.

Characters :

Akbari (sanam) : She is not what she pretends to . She wants to be loved by one and all, and pretends to be the goodie goodie, but inside she is actually gray, and not white. The character had a lot of potential, but that is not utilized to the maximum. The dialogues given are weak, and fail to leave an impression.

Asghari(Humaima) : She is the straight forward, and outgoing girl. She speaks her heart out, and takes decisions carefully. She is strong, and firm on her grounds. This is a beautifully written girl that totally grows on you, and you can't help but like her.

Akbar (Imran) : He is greedy, and married Akbari only because he wants to go abroad, and reach newer heights. He is evil, and makes his way out. This I is another beautifully written character that makes you laugh, and you enjoy whenever it is on screen.

Asghar (Fawad): Religious to the core , he is not an extremist, but believe in all the Islamic laws. Like Akbari, even this character had a lot of potential, but unfortunately isn't written properly.

Technicalities : Directed by Haissam Hussein, this one does have his mark on it. After Dastaan, much was expected from him but he fails to meet the expectations. Yes, he does a decent job, but it is not the hurricane one had expected it to be, and is mainly let down by the script. Emotional scenes(what he is more famous for) are missing. Written by Faiza Iftikhar, the script is good and bad. The humor portions most of the time falls totally flat, and irritate you instead of spreading laughter. The references are fun, but it is weak writing. Too much time is wasted with nothing happening. The dialogues are fun, but do not have a long effect.
The drama has one of the best backgrounds. It feels like you are watching a fun movie, and not a drama. It is totally in sync with the taste, and same goes for the OST which is very fun, and makes you tap your foot. It is not the usual kind. Editing, and camera work is of first rate . Fortunately , we do not see the age old sets here(breath of fresh air!).

Acting : Humaima and Sanam get equal footage, and different roles. Humaima looks gorgeous like always, and has indeed improved as an actress. She totally looks like the character she is playing, and takes up to opportunity climbing the ladder as an actress. Sanam Baloch gets a not so impressive character(in comparison), and leaves no mark. This is her second weak performance after Zindagi Dhoop, and the actress needs to rise above the script.
Fawad Khan is an amazing actor and he proves it yet again. He is effortless in all kind of scenes, and his dialogue delivery is perfect. The expressions are where they should be. Amazing performance. Imran Abbas has improved a lot as an actor, and if he continues to work this way he would soon be a contender for the top slot. Fair performance. The drama has loads of supporting actors, and they all do a good job. Some of them go over the top, but I blame the director for that.

Over all : This is a weak adaptation. The script writer gets lost somewhere, and writes a mess of a drama. The graph of the drama moves in a zig zag fashion-which is never impressive. It just has something that makes you take that remote, and press that button. A good opportunity wasted.

Sanam's acting in this drama was utter crap, as well as her hair style.. yuck! Those bangs... The role she played was worse.
I liked Fawad, Imran, Humaima and Sheen in this drama!
