What's a genuine reason to Hide one's online status and visit streak? Are my reasons genuine?

I don't want anyone to demand immediate replies from me just because I'm logged in.

I don't need anyone tracking and discussing how many consecutive days I've been here.

I would rather not be invited indiscriminately into personal topics like birthday threads, or expected to vote for a member in a contest without taking the time to read every submission.

Well I respect your choice to hide your online status and visit streak for the reasons you've outlined. However, it's essential to keep in mind that the forum is a space for a wide range of individuals with varying preferences and priorities. We fully respect everyone's individual choices when it comes to using the forum's features.

While your concerns are valid for you, it's important to remember that not everyone is preoccupied with tracking or discussing how much time others spend on the site. The forum serves as a platform for discussions, learning, and sharing, and members have different priorities when using it.

Personally, I don't overthink about what other members might think on how much time I spend my time here. Instead, I proudly showcase my visit streak as a symbol of my commitment to the site and something where I enjoy spending my time. I am now eagerly waiting for my 1000 days visit streak badge.

Should the Profile Visitors List page display how much time someone spends browsing my Profile?

I couldn't help but notice an interesting contrast in your preferences. On one hand, you're interested in tracking how much time someone spends on your profile, while on the other, you prefer to keep simple details like your current online status and visit streak hidden. It's intriguing to see these varying preferences within our diverse community.

We have a dedicated forum page which you can access from the Navigation menu: /forum/

As mentioned above we will definitely explore the suggestion but it would be more limited to that forum. For example: may be we just highlight members of that forum who are currently Online.

I mean we used to be able to search on members post meaning when they lasted posted and their posts. I understand privacy issues but sometimes those posters who posted interesting topics or posts it’s easier to search.

I think you can check that easily by clicking on the Post Count in the hover card. Correct me if I misunderstood your question.

This would be more useful to me than the plenary display. Also, please consider my earlier question:

I find the Members list page of private forums useful for this purpose. Does something similar - a Followers page - exist for public forums?

you're interested in tracking how much time someone spends on your profile

It was just a thought that occurred to me today, but yes, I'm interested. The duration of someone's perusal of specific content is more valuable information than that person's boolean online status.

Isn't this the kind of metadata that you provide to advertisers? Could time of arrival and time of departure be displayed on my Profile Visitors List instead of the one timepoint that I see now?

Someone who leaves my Profile right away might only care about my Change Log, my Buddy List, or my Wall, or whatever DT members can see that I can't see.

Someone who spends more time on my Profile might be launching into more than one of my forum posts, my fan fictions, my joined private forums, other members' fan fictions in my Library ... That person might be willing to communicate by PM even if s/he is silent in the forum.

I try to be patient for feedback on my writing to happen organically, without me having to beg for it. However, I might reach out and start more conversations about my writing if I knew that someone is reading carefully.
