The birds were chirping outside the window and the early morning sun was trying to make its way into the bedroom through the baby blue and white striped voiles

Chandini stirred in her bed and slowly fluttered her eyes open. She sat up, closed her eyes and folded her hands as she murmured the daily morning prayer to herself.

Karaagre Vasate Lakshmi

Kara Madhye Saraswathi

Kara moole tu Govindha

Prabahte Kar Darshanam

She had said this prayer every morning since she was a child. Dev had taught her this prayer and made her recite it a million times with him, so she never forgot. She opened her eyes and looked down at her palm and slowly touched her face with both her palm.

"Kar ( palm) Darshan every morning will bring you happiness and peace Dev had told her.

She then slowly looked at the Crystal clock on her bedside table which was shaped like Lord Ganesh, it was 6.30 in the morning. It was Advay's clock. She was in awe of it when she had seen it for the first time and it still managed to bring out the same reaction within her every time she saw it.

Vakratunda Mahakaya, Surya koti Samaprabha,

Nirvighnam Kurume dev, Sarva karyeshu sarvadaa

She prayed to Lord Ganesh as she put her feet down, on the soft sheep skin rug, that lay at her feet.

She slowly looked to her left, to find Advay still asleep with his hands folded across his chest on the couch opposite her.

"He looks so peaceful". She thought to herself. This had been her routine for almost every day for the last month. It had been a month since Chandini had moved in with Advay and his family. She had only just finally started to settle into her new home.

She loved watching his peaceful face as soon as she woke up every morning. There was something about him that made her feel calm. He was her nemesis, waiting to get her at every step of her life, yet she couldn't help but feel totally relaxed and stress free when she was with Advay. Like as though he had taken up the burden of all her worries and sorrows upon his strong shoulders.

The morning Sun shone softly on his perfectly chiselled face. His hair was in a mess. She almost ached with the need to run her fingers through his curly soft hair. As she sat there watching his perfect face, she couldn't help but realise how beautiful her husband really was. She chuckled to herself at the word 'husband' again. Both Advay and Chandini knew the reality of their marriage. She knew there was no hope, not that she had hoped for anything in the first place.

"I just want him to stop hating me. Thats all". She sighed to herself.

She got up and took her clothes from the wardrobe before going into the Bathroom to freshen up. She suddenly realised that she had run out of her besan and haldi mix that she washed her face with everyday. She came out of the bathroom, with the empty jar and stopped in her tracks at what she saw.

Advay sat on the Couch cross legged, with his eyes closed and hands folded as he recited

Karaagre Vasate Lakshmi

Kara Madhye Saraswathi

Kara moole tu Govindha

Prabahte Kar Darshanam

He then looked at this open hands before touching his face with his palm. Chandini stood behind the wardrobe as she watched him spellbound. She had never noticed this before.

"Where had he learnt to do this?" she wondered to herself, as something about him reminded her of Dev.

Advay opened his eyes and mindlessly looked around, only to find Chandini looking at him alarmed.

"What ?" he barked.

Chandini jolted out of her trance and nodded her head. She quickly opened the door to one of shelves on the dressing table, to fill the empty jar with her besan and haldi mix.

Advay got up from the couch and walked up to Chandini. He took the jar from her hands before she could protest.

Chandini jolted as Advay's hand brushed against her's ever so slightly. Her heart had picked its pace and she could barely breathe. He was standing too close to her, she could almost hear his heartbeat.

He sniffed the mixture,

"Tumne issmain Chandan nahi daala "He asked her sternly.

"Wohh Chandan nahi tha , tho nahi daala " She whispered as she looked at him with surprise.

He dunked his fingers into the jar till the dry mixture coated them and then brushed his fingers lightly against Chandini soft cheeks.

All Chandini could do was curl her toes and tremble at this touch , while Advay smirked at her.

She quickly took the jar from his hands and ran into the bathroom. She could barely breathe as she washed her face and looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her left cheek had turned red, where he had just touched her.

"Calm down, Chandini "She told herself.

She took a spoon full of the ubtan mix on the palm of her hand. She reminded herself of how Dev was the one who had gotten her into the habit of washing her face with this mix. He used to bring her the Chandan from his house, as the Vashishts couldn't afford it. But without Dev, it seemed meaningless to add Chandan to her mix anymore.

"But why did Advay ask her about the missing Chandan" Chandini asked herself with confusion.

"How did he know?" she wondered.

---------------------

Advay sat on the recliner on the terrace outside his bedroom. It was a great start to his day.

"Pagal " He smiled to himself as he reminded himself of how she always reacted to his touch.

Chandini had been living with him for almost a month now. He was finally getting used to having her around. He loved to watch her sleep at night. He always waited for her to come out of the bathroom , with hair slightly damp and pressed around her forehead.

" So she still applies the haldi and besan paste" He thought to himself. A warm smile spread across his face as he remembered a 15yr old Dev giving Chandini his mothers jar of ubtan, along with a list of the contents in the jar. Chandini's family were not rich enough to afford the Chandan that went into the mix. Hence why Dev would always give her a jar of freshly powdered Chandan, his mother kept in the little shelf of their pooja room.

Dev sat there smiling, thinking about his little Chandini,

Chandini came out of the bathroom. Her hair damp. As she sat down to brush her hair, she saw Advay glaring at her lovingly from the corner of the eye. She flinched a little as he started walking towards her. She quickly got up to leave, only to find Advay to block her path with his body.

Chandini looked up into his eyes with fear. Her heart had picked up pace again and her breathing had become heavier.

Advay slowly raked his fingers through her damp hair, as he smiled to himself.

"Tumhaare baal bohut sundar hai " He told her as he touched her soft tresses with his fingers.

"Thanks " Chandini quickly replied as she tried to squeeze past him.

Advay held her by her arm "Tum aise hi baahar jaaogi " He questioned her with a hint of anger and disapproval.

Chandini touched her face, was she missing something. She turned back to look at her reflection in the mirror. She looked alright, just like how she did everyday.

"What did he mean by that?" She wondered. She looked up at him confused as he still held on to her arm.

He slowly lifted his hands and touched the parting in her hair, with his finger.

"Mahant ki beti ho, Shaadi shuda ho. Aur maang main Sindoor bhi nahi?" He mocked at her disapprovingly.

"Sindoor, Shaadi " Chandini chukled with sarcasm. "Kaise shaadi, jo zabardasti se hui ho She added. "I think we both know truth about this marriage. You have vowed to make my life difficult to the point ,that I will leave your house of my own accord. And I have vowed that no matter what I will live with you for the sake of my Maa and your Nani". She replied in a wry and toneless voice.

"There is no marriage between us Mr Advay Singh Raizada and I do not consider you my husband. Hence why I don't think the need to wear a sindoor or a Mangalsutra" She added firmly while she continued to looked straight into his eyes.

She wrenched her arm our of his and walked past him, as she tossed her hair in the air, only for her hair to slap across Advay's face. She walked out of the room , for once feeling confident and strong while Advay kept staring at her with his jaws clenched and his fist curled into a ball.

"How dare she?" he fumed to himself

-------------------

Today was a big day, Nani had organised a Bhajan at home. She had invited all the ladies from her bhajan group. Chandini had a big day ahead of her. Nani had asked her to prepare the prasad for the evening pooja. This was the first time she would be cooking for such a large group away from home. Her heart fluttered at the thought of being introduced to all of Nani's friends as Advay's wife. She was his wife now, she reminded herself as she set to the task ahead of her.

It was 5.00 in the evening and Chandini had been busy all day with the preparations for the evening.

She was so engrossed in her work that she had almost lost track of time for once. Shilpa ran up to her asking her to get dressed as the guests would start arriving anytime soon.

As Chandini was about to run back to her room, Nani called out to her. She gave her a beautiful peacock green lehenga with a blue duppatta to wear to the pooja. As Chandini took the lehenga in her hands, tears threatened to form in her eyes.

"Its beautiful" She whispered. She hugged Nani and thanked her for the lehenga.

"Cheeku laaya yeh , tere liye" Nani beamed. Chandini looked at her stunned

"Tujhe pasand aaya" Nani asked her. "Bata naa, rang kaunsa hai" as Nani looked at her anxiously for an answer.

"Mor pan khi " Chandini whispered as Nani smiled to herself. She could barely speak at the thought that Advay had actually got her a lahenga. She touched the lehenga tenderly. It was a pure georgette Lehenga with a delicate zardosi border. Her eyes glistened at the thought that this was probably the most expensive piece of clothing she had ever owned.

She took the lehenga and slowly made her way to her room, confused and shocked. She went into the bathroom to change and freshen up.

When she came out, she found Advay and Murli hauling the stools and tables out of the room.

"What is going on?" she wondered to herself. "Maybe they needed more seating downstairs" she told herself, as she began brushing her hair. She had no where to sit as all the stools had gone missing including the one in front of the dressing table. She stood in front of the mirror and slowly started to wear her rings and her bangles. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and couldn't help but appreciate the way in which the peacock blue complimented her complexion.

"Manana padega, Atrangi Singh Raizada ka choice toh bohut hi badiya hai" She told herself as she beamed.

Advay came into the room and locked the room from within. He went straight into the bathroom without saying a word to Chandini. He seems grumpy today, she thought to herself.

"When is he not grumpy " She sighed.

Chandini was all ready to go downstairs, only to realise that the door was locked and the latch at the top of the door was too high for her to reach it.

She tried to stand on her toes, but she couldn't even reach till three quarters of the door.

"yeh kaisa ghar hai" she said to herself exasperated.

"Itne bade darwaze, jaise kisi rakshak ke liye bane ho"

She smiled at the word "Rakshas." "Rakshas hee toh hai woh she thought to herself."

"Rakshas Singh Raizada"

Chandini sat on the bed, as she waited for Advay to come out of the bathroom and open the door for her. She looked at the clock, it was almost 5.45. It was getting late.

"What was taking him so long" she wondered.

Advay came out of the bathroom, wiping his face with the towel around his neck. He flopped down on the bed and began reading a book, totally ignoring Chandini.

Chandini looked at him, hoping that he would look at her, while he pretended like as though there was no one other than himself in the room.

She cleared her throat, yet there was no reaction from him.

"Please open the door" she whispered.

A warm smile spread across his face as he looked slowly up at Chandini with a loving gaze. She gulped air as she almost forgot to breathe.

"Kuch Kaha tumne , Bhagyawaan"" He teased her.

"Darwaza kholiye, Nani intezaar kar rahi hogi She requested him.

"Toh" He sounded indifferent "Main kya karoon" he said as he went back to reading his book.

He looked up at her with a smirk on his face "Tum neeche nahi jaaogee", he told her firmly "Main tumhe neeche nahi jaane doonga."

"Kyun "she asked him with confusion. "What is the matter with this man?" she asked herself.

"Tum neeche nahi gayi, toh Nani tumse naaraz hogi, Right?. Yahi toh chahata hoon main" He told her coldly. " Waisi bhi, I don't want you to meet any of her friends. These women have nothing better to do than to gossip" He added bluntly.

"Par Nani, wants me be there, Advay" Chandini tried explaining to him with tears beginning to form in her eyes.

"Teek hai" He said "You may go, but first you will have to wear a sindoor and a mangalsutra " He added with a cheeky twinkle in his eyes.

"Nahi "She jumped. "I would rather die, than wear a sindoor "She told him with irritation in her voice.

"Ok , in that case. You can go down if you want to, but I am not. Opening. The. Door." He spelt out slowly, as he pointed toward the latch at the top of the door with a smirk on his face.

Chandini looked at him in shock as she realised he had trapped her in her own room. So this is why Murli was removing all the stools and tables from the room, she thought to herself angrily.

"How could he ?". This was his Nani's function and yet he chooses to be so callous she thought to herself, as she looked at him with anger and disbelief.

"Kya hau Chandini" He teased her as he continued to look down at the book in his hand.

"All you have to do is let me put the Sindoor in your maang and then you are free to go. In-fact I will open the door and will also take you downstairs. What do you say?" He looked up at her as he smiled at her with a chuckle.

"Mere pasand ka lehenga pehen sakti ho, Toh mere naam ka sindoor kyun nahi?" He winked with a cheeky grin on his face. "Aakhir pati hoon tumhara, Haq hai mera He chuckled.

Chandini was fuming, She could see he was enjoying every bit of this.

Chandini wasn't going to let him win. "Not this time" she promised herself, as she turned around to look up at the locked door. She tried once again to reach the latch by standing on her toes.

Advay was now lying sideways on his bed, watching her antics with amusement as he was giggling to himself at her helplessness.

"Come On Chandini, Ab yeh Zidd Chod do" He added in a mirthful voice. "Tumse nahi hoga, itni choti si Katto Gilehri jo ho" He chuckled as Chandini shot daggers at him with her eyes.

Chandini looked at the clock , it was 6.15 now. She was late, she had to get out of this room before Nani came looking for her, she told herself.

Chandini then decided to jump, she jumped up trying to reach the latch. The first two times she was unsuccessful. Advay was sitting up now. A crease began to form on his forehead as he continued to watch her with worry.

"Chandini , Careful " He growled "You are going to hurt yourself"

Chandini jumped again, this time higher but as she landed, she tripped on her ankle and fell down and she yelped in pain.

Advay instantly sprang to her, as she fell down.

"Pagal ho tum" He shouted at her "I told you to be careful". He said angrily as he touched her ankle with care.

"Its ok I am not hurt " Chandini assured him. She had slightly twisted her ankle but hadn't sprained it thankfully. She quickly got up to her feet, While Advay sat down on one knee, as he softly touched her ankle with his finger.

Chandini felt a shiver down her spine at the touch of fingers. She looked down at him. He was sat on on knee close to the door , with the other bent slightly forward.

This was her chance she thought to herself.

Chandini in a flash of an eye, put her hand on Advay's head grabbing his hair in her fingers, while she put one foot on his knee and stoop up. She reached the latch and pulled it down forcefully before jumping back down from Advay's knee and running out, even before Advay could realise what had just happened.

Chandini ran out of the room, at full speed without looking back. Her breathing was heavy and she could feel her knees trembling at what she had just done. She didn't stop till she reached the kitchen, only to find Shilpa and Murli taking out trays of Tea for the guests.

Chandini was heaving and huffing and puffing.

"Kya hua Chandini jiji, Aap teek ho" Shilpa asked her with concern.

"Haan" She managed between her breaths. "Main teek hoon. I will just start serving the prasad" She told Shilpa as she managed to force a smile on her lips.

Advay slumped to the floor. He was confused and couldn't get to grips with what had just happened. For once he couldn't breathe as his heart was beating at a dangerously great speed.

Chandini had just used him as a stool.

He couldn't help by smile to himself as realisation struck him. She had actually stood up on his knee. She had leaned against him with her hands in his hair, while he held on to her legs. Chandini had never come this close to his body. Her thigh had been literally stacked against his cheek.

"This was the first" he told himself with satisfaction.

Was she really so comfortable around him, he thought to himself still in awe of her courage and boldness. For now all he could do was try and calm himself down, as he put his head back and let out a groan with his eyes shut.

Murli and Shilpa left the kitchen with tea for the guests, Chandini sat down on a stool to catch her breath. She was still shaking at what she had just done. Her fingers tingled as she remembered how soft his hair felt in her hands. Chandini had just stood up on Advay's knee, while balancing herself against him with her hands in his hair.

She chuckled to herself as she was still trembling at the after math of her actions.

She quickly recovered her senses and started to arrange the plates on the large granite island that stood at the centre of the large kitchen. She mindlessly went about the task, as she started warming up the sooji ka halwa she had made for prasad.

She dropped the ladle and almost forgot to breathe, at the touch of a hand against the fair soft skin of her petite waist.

She glanced up, only to find Advay looking down at her intensely.

"Was it anger, or was it something else" her heart skipped a beat as she wondered at what was happening to her.

Chandini sucked in a breath, as Advay lazily gazed his fingers up her waist, and stood closer to her with his chest now against her back.

She curled her toes and held on to the counter as she felt her back burn against his warm chest.

Advay moved his hands from her waist, and put it on her bare shoulder. He slowly ran his hands down her, till finally he interlocked his fingers into hers. He bent down a little to rub his cheek against her, while Chandini lost track of her thoughts. All she could do now was close her eyes and feel her body tremble at his touch as she let out a soft moan.

"Kya kiya tune" he asked her in a husky voice. She jolted back to look at him. His eyes had turned darker. She couldn't quite understand the expression on his face. This was a new feeling , no man had ever made her feel like this. She felt like her heart would explode any minute, yet she didn't want him to move away from her. She leaned back into his chest, and closed her eyes. For now she just wanted time to stand still.

Advay knew that something had changed between them today. He knew that things would not be the same from now onwards.

He slowly touched her face with his fingers, as she looked into his eyes and blushed.

As realisation struck her at what she was doing and where she was, she quickly stepped away from him, and started to fidget with the plates in front of her.

He stepped closer to her, to take her in his arms once again.

"Kya kar rahe hai aap, Koi dekh lega " She warned as she looked around to make sure no was watching them.

"Haan toh," He replied in a placid tone "This is my house and you are my wife, Mujhe Haq hai" He reminded her.

Chandini looked up at him as she felt her stomach clench at what he had just said. She was nervous, but instead of squirming against him she chose to laugh as she pointed towards his messy hair. She had only just realised that his hair was in a mess, with a devils horn on one side.

Advay for once was not amused. He looked at his reflection in a steel pan that hung from one of the hooks above, and scrunched his face in disapproval, while Chandini continued to chuckle.

He put his hands around her waist and pulled her closer to his body, while she almost choked on her breath.

"Kisne kiya yeh" He asked her. His eyes were like slits now. "Tumne bigada hain, Ab tumhi sawaro "He told her cooly as he bent his head down towards her.

Chandini looked up at him in disbelief. He was actually letting her run her fingers through his hair. She couldn't believe it.

She slowly put up her hand, as she started to rake her fingers through his hair , all the while grooming them back into place. Her palm tingled at the touch of his soft curly hair. She had wanted to do this for a very long time. She couldn't believe that this was actually happening in reality.

Advay kept glaring as he clenched his jaw. She had no idea what her touch was doing to him. The effect she had on him was maddening.

She was always his Chandini. The one true love of his life. They had played together and fought together.

But today as he looked at her, he realised that the Chandini here in his arms , running her fingers through his hair was a woman. A woman who was driving him to a point of no return. Advay was slowly beginning to lose this war. Hate never stood a chance with Love anyways.

Chandini pulled her hand back, once his hair was in place. She tried to step out of his hold, only to be held closer.

Advay tilted his head to one side, and smirked.

"Ab meri baari " He said , as she looked up at him in confusion.

He slowly took out a little brass dibiya, as he put his fingers into them to take a pinch of its contents, while Chandini still didn't realise what it was.

He slowly ran one hand, against her parting, brushing against it, as he filled her maang with Sindoor. Chandini looked up at him in surprise, as Advay smirked at her with victory.

He then slowly pulled out something from his pocket, only to place it around her neck, as he bent down to fasten it in place. Chandini touched the delicate black beaded mangalsutra that sat snugly against her smooth skin, and looked up at Advay with tears beginning to form in her eyes.

Advay brushed his fingers against her cheek "Tum meri ho, Sirf meri ho" He exclaimed, while all Chandini could do was nod in agreement.

He then smiled her at her, and took her hand into his and placed a jar of Chadnan in her hands.

"For your ubtan" he winked as he swiftly walked out of the kitchen, while Chandini stood there clasping the jar close to her heart, barely able to breathe or barely able to think clearly.

"What just happened" She thought to herself with confusion. She looked down at the jar in her hands and jolted up again to look at Advay who continued to walk away from her.

"Who is he?" Chandini asked herself "Was he Dev ? Could that be possible" She wondered in a state of complete shock as her heart almost skipped a beat.

Res : For intro

Okay so i wrote this in 2hrs this morning. The idea flashed to me when Jo asked me to imagine Chandini trying to open the door at her new house, after thurs epi, HAHAH and we both had a good laugh

Since then it was niggling at the back of my head that i had to write using this concept. So Jo ji , this one is for you 👏
Also i ve been ranting abt her being the only person to wear maang se bhi lamba sin door, which has gone missing since last two days,
So i was just hoping they have a tussle abt that and he puts the sin door, only this time with love and not zabardasti

I would really like to see something like that happen in the future, so why i wrote this.

Hope you liked it

In my mind ,the way the scenes played out was incredible, hence why FF writing ka lahu muh laga gaya , trust me its such a pleasure to have these characters interact the way you want them to in your head.

I loved, the part where sitting out on the terrace and reminiscing his childhood days,

Then i loved the bit , where he is sprawled on the bed watching her trying to reach the door with amusement, The way that scene played out in my head was OO LLAAA LAAA

Also the bit where he is trying to come to terms with the fact that she actually stood up on his knee, that was amazing trust me !!!

and then finally when he puts the sin door in her maang, that whole kitchen scenes was too hott to handle even as i was writing HAHHA

Pls tell me what part of the story did u like.

Cheers, Chitra

I loved the comfort between them
They are not awkward around each other now
He was so happy seeing she still did as he had told so long ago
She was happy as he let her run her hands through his hair
Best part was her using him as a stool

It was beautiful to see them behaving like a normal couple, who is learning to live together after marriage. Those small things when you start noticing in your partner's everyday life. Same thing is happening here too. Though they were childhood besties, they never really interacted normally as adults. It was a bliss reading this one. In the end, love will always win over hatred.❤️
