Song is my fav. In fact another song mathura nagarpati kahe tum gokul jao from the movie raincoat is equally soul touching.
Both piya tora kaisa abhiman and mathura nagarpati are full of raw emotions and one could feel the pain and suffering of the characters so well that it is almost impossible to stop your tears. They are truly what they say 'haunting melody'

Part 13
Mini and Shakuntala were watching tv in living room at night after having dinner. A romantic movie was playing on tv. Mini was fully engrossed in it as she was imagining herself in place of heroine and Neil in place of hero again and again. A romantic scene came where hero heroine were about to kiss. Mini kept looking at the screen totally captivated by it as she remembered numerous incidents when Neil tried coming close to her. She started feeling hot in her body even when fan was on full speed. Her throat went dry as hero heroine came closer and she held her breath when hero heroine kissed on screen.
“Hey bhagwan! Ye aajkal ki movies, kitni ashleelta dikhate hain is sab mein.” Shakuntala commented and looked at Mini expecting her reply or giggles. But she saw Mini was totally into movie and she didn’t even reacted to her statement. Mini clutched the end of her saree pallu as if to hold her emotions when hero heroine started making out. For the first time Mini could feel the desires rising in her body. She felt extremely uncomfortable as she didn’t know what is happening to her. Her every fiber of the body screamed for attention, to be touched…by a man…no not any man…by Neil. Suddenly she felt her heart was on fire. She wanted to be in Neil’s arms more than ever. Her breath become shallow and that’s when Shakuntala shook her out of her reverie. “Mini, are you alright?” Shakuntala asked. “Yes, yes I am fine. I think I should sleep. Its very late. Good night.” Mini said all flustered and ran in her room.
Mini locked the door and took deep breaths to calm down.This was new to her. She didn’t know what happened to her back there. Why she craved for Neil so much in that moment? She never used to like such scenes in movies then why she was liking it now and more astonishing fact was why the hell she was imagining Neil and herself in those scenes? Why her body feels it is burning from inside? God! She will go mad like this. She needed help. She threw away her saree and went into the bathroom to have cold shower. As the cold water washed down the heat in her head, she came out of bathroom wrapping a towel around her body. As she opened the cupboard to find a pair of nightclothes she couldn’t help but wonder did Neil felt like this always around her? That’s why he never left any chance to come close to her? Was he going through the same torture? Is that’s the reason why everyone gives so much importance to physical expression of love? By the time she wore her clothes she was now feeling horrible to push away Neil from her everytime.
Mini came out in the garden and contemplated sending another message to Neil. She wanted to say sorry; she wanted to say that now she understands his feelings. More than anything, she wanted him back. With shaking hands she typed the message, “Neil…” she thought and thought hard but all of a sudden her mind was filled with hundreds of things she wanted to say him and she was stuck because of loss of words. She didn’t know how to say these things. So she just pressed the send button without writing anything more. She waited for him to reply, to take over this conversation but as usual he didn’t respond. Mini threw away the phone in anger. “I hate you Neil.” She cried. Shakuntala saw her sitting on a swing in the garden. She was crying, her hairs were wet, she ran away from the living room after that… “Oh! I see.” Shakuntala exclaimed. With all the life experiences she possessed, it didn’t took much time for Shakuntala to make 2+2 and understand Mini’s situation. She decided they will go to Delhi as soon as possible. Dont know when it will be possible for Neil to clme here so better they go there.

“Mini, pass me the curry please.” Shakuntala asked on dining table while having lunch. Mini handed her over the bowl. “Have you told Neil that you have learned making this curry perfectly as its his favorite?” Shakuntala asked while having another serving of it. “No babes, he hasn’t called me since he left. And to be honest I don’t think it bothers him what I do what I don’t do. I am no one in his life. Aur ab mujhe bhi koi fark nahi padta. Main koi mari nahi ja rahi hoon unse baat karne ke liye.” Mini replied barely hiding her tears.
“Hmm, so you are saying that you don’t miss him? You don’t want to talk to him?” Shakuntala teased her. “Yes, I don’t care about him.” Mini replied shoving spoonful of rice in her mouth to avoid thinking about Neil. “Ok, phir toh main akeli hi Delhi chali jati hoon. When you don’t miss him and don’t want to talk to him either then definitely you wont be interested in coming with me.” Shakuntala replied trying to control her laughter seeing Mini’s shocked face.
“What? You are going to Delhi to meet him?” Mini asked almost coughing her food out. Shakuntala offered her glass of water and nodded in yes for the answer. “But…how can you go alone…I mean its not good for your health…I should accompany you, not because I am anyway interested in meeting Neil but because you will need me.” Mini somehow put forward her suggestion. “Chal chal rehne de ab bahane. Mann mein toh laddu phut rahe honge Delhi jane ka sunke aur mere samne ye natak kar rahi hai.” Shakuntala teased her some more. “No, nothing like that…I was only…just…wo…” Mini tried to make excuses but ultimately gave up as Shakuntala started laughing at her. After few seconds Mini also joined her.
“Oh, I missed this laughter of yours. Where did you hide it? If you were missing Neil so much then you should have told me earlier. I would have made arrangement for your travel.” Shakuntala asked. “Its nothing like that babes…I…” Mini couldn’t complete as her voice cracked with emotions. “Hey! Its ok my dear. I am your mother. You can cry in front of me.” Shakuntala said and before she could even complete Mini hugged her tightly and started crying like a child. “Neil is very bad. He is very mean and rude. I know I have done mistakes but now that I am sorry and trying to communicate with him, he is avoiding me. He doesn’t love me anymore.” She complained about Neil to his own mother but she knew Shakuntala will understand her as she was also Mini’s babes.
“You think like that? I can believe if someone says world is falling apart but cant believe that Neil doesn’t love you anymore. Ever since he has gone, the only topic in our chats over phone is you. Minnu kaisi hai? Minnu ne khana khaya? Minnu ki tabiyat toh theek hai? Etc etc. he keeps going on and on about you. In his 10 min or so phone call 8 min are about you and remaining little 2 min are about me and himself.” Shakuntala informed.
“What? I don’t believe you. If that’s the case then why don’t he call me directly?” Mini asked wiping off her tears. “I don’t know what exactly happened between you two but I know my son. He is very sensitive. When he hates someone he does it fiercely and when he loves someone he does it even more passionately and expects the same from them. Knowingly or unknowingly you might have hurt his feelings that’s why he has created a shell around himself in order to avoid getting hurt again. I don’t think this can be solved over phone. You should meet him and tell him whats in your heart clearly. Trust me, once he hears it from your mouth, he will once again become that old Neil.” Shakuntala gave her opinion and Mini couldn’t help but agree with each and every word.

“Neil, where are you? I have come to Delhi to meet you and you don’t have time for me.” Shakuntala complained over phone. “What? You are here in Delhi?” Neil was shocked. “Yes, I am at your cousin Aarti’s house.That’s why Aarti has invited you to come here and spend weekend with her. I wanted to give you surprise but you haven’t come till now.” Shakuntala scolded him. “Maa, I didn’t know you are coming.” Neil replied thinking about the morning incident when he had received Aarti di’s call asking him to spend the weekend with her and jeeju but Neil was not in a mood. He knew Aarti di wont understand now. So he had said yes on the phone and decided he will later make some excuse but he didn’t know it was all his maa’s plan to surprise him. “Wait, if maa has come then does it means Minnu has also come?” Neil thought and couldn’t contain his excitement. “Maa, I am sorry for being late. I am on my way. I am coming there in half n hour.” Neil said and cut the call. He packed his bag for a weekend and left for Aarti di’s house thinking that finally after so many months he will see his Minnu.
“Arre Neil, toh fursat mil gayi finally behen aur jeeju se milne ki? Aarti pulled his ears as soon as Neil entered her house. “Ouch! Di, it hurts. Aa to gaya na main.” Neil defended himself. “Tumne to bahana soch kar rakha tha na aane ka wo toh Shakuntala mausi ne tumhe phone kiya isliye unse milne aaye ho tum.” Aarti further made her point on which Neil smiled sheepishly.
“Arre dono bhai behen ye sab jhagda baad mein karna pehle mujhe apne bête se mil to lene do. Itne mahino baad dekh rahi hoon ise.” Shakuntala said and become emotional. Neil hugged her tighly. “I missed you too maa.” Neil said. After sometime Shakuntala made him sit and brought out all the food items she had prepared for him like laddus, shakkarr pare and different types of namkeen and making sure he has atleast a little bit of everything, she started chatting with him. While Shakuntala was busy in asking all sorts of questions regarding his health and college Neil was searching for that one face he longed to see. It was more than half n hour since he came but Minnu was no where to be seen. Has maa came alone? He thought.
“Neil, ye bar bar idhar udhar kaha dekh rahe ho?” Shakuntala finally asked seeing his restlessness. “Wo..maa…aap akeli aayi ho?” Neil managed to ask somehow while Aarti controlled her laughter with difficulty. Shakuntala had already told her everything and how she has planned to bring Minnu with her to give surprise to Neil.She has forbidden Mini to come down and asked her to stay upstairs saying that she will send Neil there.
“Yes, I have come alone. Why? Should I have brought anyone else?” Shakuntala asked innocently. “No, nothing let it be. I…I like that you have come. I was missing you and only YOU, no one else. Aur hai ki kaun mera waha jiski yaad ayegi mujhe.” Neil answered as he was hurt that Minnu hasn’t come with maa. “What was he thinking? Minnu was and is selfish, self centered. She doesn’t care about his feelings. Its good that he didn’t replied to any of her messages. He was proved right again. She was only sending those messages for namesake or maybe she must be feeling bored. She never said clearly in any of messages that she wants him back. All were superficial kind of confusing messages.” As Neil thought all this he become angry with Minnu, with himself, with everyone around him. He couldn’t stay there anymore listening to the nonstop chattering of the ladies. He needed fresh air. He stood up to leave.
“Mausi ji, I think we have troubled him a lot. Look at his face, poor brother seems so sad.” Aarti whispered in Shakuntala’s ears. “Yes, you are right. Time to give the real surprise.” Shakuntala replied and asked Neil to stop when he stood up from his place. “Where are you going Neil?” she asked. “Maa, I need some fresh air. I am going out.” Neil replied. “Neil, why don’t you put your bag in the room upstairs. I have specially arranged it for you and there is a big balcony in your room, you can enjoy fresh air there also. You don’t need to go out.” Aarti suggested as she winked at Shakuntala. “Fine! I am going in my room.” Neil said and went upstairs. While Aarti and Shakuntala gave hi five to each other.
Neil entered the room and tossed his bag to one side. He ran his hand in his hairs and took some deep breaths to control the growing frustration. “Fresh air, I need fresh air.” He chanted like some mantra and came into the balcony. By now the drizzling had started and splashes of rainwater were gracing his face. There was a subtle aroma of wet mud in the environment with cool breeze presenting a very pleasant and romantic scenario. He remembered Minnu once again and as if on a cue opened his eyes to see on his right where he found Minnu already standing there half drenched in the rainfall and smiling like an excited child. He rubbed his eyes to be sure he is not hallucinating. “Minnu? Is that you?” he asked.
Hearing his voice Minnu looked at him. “Neil…” she whispered. “Minnu…” Neil took her name again like some devotee in the temple takes his God’s name. Their eyes met, Neil eyes scanned her top to down, trying to make him believe she is finally here, drinking in her beauty while Mini’s vision become blurred as her eyes got filled with tears, tears of anger, pain,love, happiness, all at once. “Neil…” Mini called him as she sobbed some more. “Minnu…” Neil opened his arms for her reading her expressions, feeling her pain and longing. Now he didn’t need any clarifications about her thoughts. He knew it, he just knew it right now that she wants him as much as he wants her, she loves him as much as he loves her. Mini saw him and came running in his waiting arms.
Both of them kept standing there, hugging each other for few minutes. “Minnu, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” Neil asked as he pulled apart. “How would I have done that? You were not talking to me?” Mini put blame on him. “You could have messaged me. You kept sending all the unnecessary messages but didn’t think of informing about your arrival.” Neil shook his head dejectedly. “As if you were interested in communicating with me. You never gave reply to any of my messages.” Mini again blamed him. “You used to message me everything but your feelings. If you were missing me then you should have just told me clearly na. Don’t you remember? I told you specifically that jab tum bulaogi ab tabhi wapas aaunga main. You were beating around the bush.You never mentioned anything clearly. I was skeptical about your feelings. What if you again break my heart? That’s what stopped me from replying or coming back to you.” Neil explained.
“ Haan to bula hi to rahi thi kabse. It was not easy for me ok. All these feelings, way to express them its all alien. I didn’t know anything. Thats why in a hope to convey my feelings somehow I kept taking chances and sending those messages thinking that you will reply atleast once but you never did. I hate you Neil.” Mini said and started hitting him on his chest. Neil started laughing at her childish behavior. His Minnu was being childish like always and here he was thinking all sorts things, making up stories in his mind that she doesn’t love him and god knows what?
“You are so mean Neil. You are laughing at me. I hate you.”Mini shouted. “No you don’t, you are lying. You love me just the way I love you.” Neil said and held her hands. She tried to free them to hit him some more but couldn’t. His grip was strong. In a despearet attempt to have a last word she accused him, “You are lying. You don’t love me and I also don’t love you. I just came here to make babes happy.”
“Now we both know who is lying and who is not. So stop pretending as if you don’t know anything. Grow up, my child bride.” Neil came close and whispered in her ears, sending shivers down her spine and she just gave up her pretense. “I love you Minnu.” Neil said looking into her eyes and she replied instantly, “I love you too Neil.”
She kept waiting for him to make a move and touch her, kiss her but when he didn’t she couldnt take it anymore and herself attacked his lips in a weird and desperate manner. Biting, too much pressure on lips, teeth clashing, she just wanted to have all of him at once. “Hey hey hey! Stop it my jungli billi. Calm down. This is not the way to kiss.” Neil smiled against her lips as he grabbed her hairs and pulled apart. “Then how is it done? You show me.” Mini asked innocently. “Ya, sure, my pleasure.” Neil said before repositioning her body, he gripped her hairs lightly and tilted her face then he leaned on her a little and gently placed his lips on her. He started moving his lips against hers applying light pressure, making it pleasurable for both of them, then he slowly started sucking her lower lip and she opened her mouth to give him more access. He inserted his tongue in her mouth now. Mini was in heaven. Her eyes were closed and she started mirroring his actions to kiss him back.
After good few minutes when he felt she was going out of breath he released her lips. He was himself breathing heavily and rested his forehead on hers.
“So how was it?” he asked while smiling. “It was mindblowing. I…I want it again. I…” Mini said and not giving him any time to response she took his lips again kissing him, this time gentle, exactly how he taught her. They kissed and kissed and kissed some more till their legs gave away and they fell on the bed.
Both of them turned towards each other looking lovingly into the eyes. The cool breeze touched Mini’s cheek and she closed her eyes feeling blissful. A smile crept on her lips as she started humming a song.
Neil closed the distance between them as he took her in his embrace. He kissed her on forehead, cheeks and eyes while Mini was lost in the melody of a beautiful tune. “Minnu, I want you.” Neil confessed as he caressed her face putting aside her hair. “I am all yours.” Minnu replied as she stopped humming the song. But it continued in her sub conscious mind, drowning her heart with love filled emotions, washing away her fears.
Neil kissed her yet again passionately. He trailed his kisses towards her neck then removed her saree pallu and continued going down towards her cleavage. Minnu had her eyes closed. She just let her heart guide her this time and she decided to trust Neil as she didn’t know what exactly about to happen. But she loved Neil with all her heart and she wanted this to happen. She knew in her gut that this is something beautiful and not something to be afraid of.
She was losing herself in his touches and kisses. His hands traced the contours of her body and reached the places where they have never reached before. She caught her breath when she got strange sensations as Neil went down on her kissing and caressing throughout his way. She didn’t know how long he kept doing that. She was melting every second a little more in his arms, surrendering herself even more. He took her to the point where she didn’t had strength to ponder over things. Her only reality was Neil and their little moment.
“Minnu, open your eyes.” Neil whispered. She opened her eyes like an obedient girl and only then realized she didn’t had any clothes left on her body neither did Neil. They were in each other’s arms, their bare bodies rubbing against each other and it felt so right. Like she always wanted this. “Minnu, you trust me right?” Neil asked. She looked into his eyes. There was love, just pure love and nothing else. “Trust him? Does he even need to ask? She trusted him with her life. She nodded her head in yes. But why he is asking this question. “Are you ready to go further or should I stop?” he asked again with concern. Mini looked at him as she kept wondering, “Further? Is anything more left? All this feels so good then why would I mind to go further? But why there is concern in his eyes? Oh damn with all the questions. Today there is nothing going to be left between us.”
“Minnu, are you…” Neil asked again but she didn’t let him complete and kissed him pulling him more towards her. Their bodies were pressed up against each other. Neil took it as a yes and proceeded further to make her his in all ways. She felt him shift trying to balance himself and them he lowered himself on her. She felt stiffed as he tried to enter her and she knew immediately why he was so concerned. She held her breath waiting for it to get over, trying hard not to react strongly. Neil looked at her and kissed the sweat beads on her forehead, whispering sweet things in her ear, diverting her attention until she got used to him. After few seconds the strange uncomfortable feeling subsided and she began to enjoy the joy of union, the feeling of oneness. Finally she got to know what it is all about. Yes it was tremendous physical pleasure but it was more than just two bodies making love, it was a connection of soul, feeling of being merge into your partner, like you were incomplete till now and your partner has completed you, feeling of a girl turning into woman. Now she could relate more to that song she was humming a while ago. She had lived it today.

4 years later
“I am so excited maa, cant believe Minnu will be awarded tonight.” Neil shared his excitement with Shakuntala. “Award toh milna hi tha. Wo hai hi itni talented. Cant believe in just few years she has done so much. Not only she manages the whole house but also finds time for social work. She is really doing great work by helping under privilege children to horn their talent in music and fine arts. The local govt. has rightly decided to honour her. She deserves it.” Shakuntala replied.
Both of them together with Minnu’s father went to attend award function. After few cultural programs they presented the award to Mini.“Thanks you so much for giving me this award. Whatever I am today is just because of my family, specially my husband Neil Oberoi. He helped me in finding myself, discovering my talent in music then only I was able to help others in identifying their talent. I dedicate this award to him and to my babes without whom nothing of this could be possible. She was there with me always. She groomed me, taught me how to balance it all.” Mini gave her speech and made an announcement that they are going to start their academy of music and fine arts from next year to give free education to under privileged children. Neil was very proud on her Minnu today.
All of them returned home. Neil had arranged a small party to celebrate Minnu’s success. All her friends were invited. “Kya yaar Mini, kitni boring party hai koi adventure hi nahi.” Montu commented. “Achha to tumhe adventure chahiye. Chalo phir.” Mini signaled them to come out. They all went to the mango farm and she gestured them to have fun and take as many mangoes from tree as they want. “Tum nahi aaogi?” Montu asked her. “No, tum jao maze karo.” Mini refused.
Neil and Shakuntala also came outside to see her giggling with her friends. “If you want you can join them. Go, have a taste of that old life.” Neil encouraged her. But she shook her head in no and turned to go inside. “Hey! What happened? Jao na tum bhi un sab ke sath. Kuch hua hai kya? Aur tumne stage par bhi kaha ki hum agle saal se academy khol rahe hain. Hamari baat to isi saal kholne ki thi na? Neil asked with concern.
“Nothing has happened till now but about to happen. I will be busy this year so cant concentrate on academy and also I cant climb trees in this situation.” Mini replied looking down shyly. “In what situation?” Neil asked in confusion. But Shakuntala who was standing there understood at once. She hugged Mini, “Oh God! Thanks for this wonderful news. Mini, I am so happy for you.”
“Arre koi mujhe kuch batayega ye sab kya ho raha hai?” Neil asked in frustration. “Offo, buddhu ram, tum papa banne wale ho.” Shakuntala answered as she hit him lightly on his head. “What! Is that true Minnu?” Neil asked. Mini nodded in yes feeling extremely shy to say anything. “Oh my God! So my child bride will give birth to our child…quite fascinating.” Neil said while Mini just hugged him.
They welcomed their daughter Arya after nine months and Mini took her in her arms. “I promise I will see to it that you my daughter, grow up into a beautiful woman not a jhalli like me because every Minnu is not lucky to have Neil in her life.” She whispered to her. “No my jungli billi, let her discover her own personality, be one her kind. I am sure this little billi will make us proud.” Neil replied as he caressed Arya’s cheek. Shakuntala took some money out from her purse and twirl it around over her children then distributed it into the staff. Her family was complete. While Ashok, Naeem bi and her grandparents congratulated them.
