Hanumatodi or simply Thodi (8th Melakarta) is the Carnatic equivalent of Bhairavi. I can't think of too many songs in Hanumatodi surprisingly. Here's one

Raaga: Bhairav/Ahir

Song: Solah Baras Ki Bali Umar Ko Salaam

Movie: Ek Duuje Ke Liye

Artists: Lata Mangeshkar, Anup Jalota

Year: 1981

I was coming to Ahir Bhairav soon. It's one of my most favorite raags. Even if it is a morning raag I find it extremely touching and poignant.

The song you posted is very typically Ahir Bhairav, a mix of Bhairavi and Ahiri (Bhairav thaat though it has all the swaras)

Closest it comes to in Carnatic is Chakravakam ( (4th Melakarta)

Posting a few more faithful adaptations.

Poocho na kaise (This song is most often cited as the perfect example of this raag)

Film: Meri surat teri aankhein (1963)

Music: S.D. Burman

Lyrics: Shailendra

Singer: Mannadey

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0OesJKRsJ4

Waqt karta jo wafa

Film: Dil ne pukara (1967)

Music: Kalyanji- Anandji

Lyrics: Indeevar

Singer: Mukesh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0-RNl6DnSw

Meri veena tum bin roye (starts off as Ahir Bhairav but then other elements creep in, however the mukhda stays pretty much Ahir Bhairav)

Film: Dekh Kabira Roya (1957)

Music: Madan Mohan

Lyrics: Rajinder Kishen

All our friends have shared amazing compositions from various classical Ragas, which is truly a feast for the ears and the emotions.

Bhim and Palasi are the sources of the often-heard compound raga Bhimpalasi. According to legend, Krishna, the cowherd boy, used to call back all his cowherd companions and grazing cows by playing this lovely melody on his flute.

Raag Bhimpalasi's essence is primarily the hidden desire of a lover, although it is serene, dignified, and pulsating with intense emotion. Bhimpalasi, sung from late afternoon to dusk, is a wistful, passionate, and awful song.

Here are a few songs based on Raag Bhimpalasi:

Song- ye zi.ndagii usiiki hai, jo kisii kaa ho gayaa

Film: -(Anaarkali

Music Director: C Ramchandra

Singer - Lata Mangeshkar)

Another wonderful song based on Raag Bhimpalasi--

Song-- Mere Man Ka Bawra Panchhi

Singer - Lata Mangeshkar

Film- Amar Deep

Music:C. Ramchandra

Mohe bhool gaye saawariya

Film: Baiju Bawra (1952) - I will probably end up posting pretty much all the songs from this movie because they're all based on raags and are all perfect examples (at least imo). Not this one. There is an argument that this one is mixed or has more shades of Kalingada. But since Bhairav and Kalingada are pretty similar this seems more a point of contention for purists. I keep this song in mind as Bhairav.

Music: Naushad

Lyrics: Shakeel Badayuni

Singer: Lata Mangeshkar

Another song in Bhairav I quite like:

Ek rut aaye, ek rut jaaye

Film: Gautam Govinda (1979)

Music: Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics: Anand Bakshi

Singer: Kishore Kumar

This song has four stanzas based on 4 different superb classical Ragas, one each for each stanza, Sohni (Hamsanandi), Bahar (Kanada), Juanpuri (Juanpuri) and Yaman (Yamuna Kalyani).

1st Composition: RAAG Sohini [Hamsanandi]

Kunj-kunj mein bhanvre dole gun-gun bole
Saja singaar ritu aayi basanti

Sa ni dha ma dha ni sa ga ma ga ma dha ni sa
Re sa ni dha ni sa re sa ni sa re sa ni
Dha ni ni dha ni ni dha ni ma dha dha ma dha dha ma dha
Sa re ga ma dha na

Daali-daali kaliyon ko titaliyaan choomein
Phool-phool pankhadiyaan khole amrit ghole!

2nd Composition: RAAG Bahaar

Kaahe ghata mein bijuri chamke
Ho sakta hain megharaaj ne baadariya ka
Shyaam-shyaam mukh choom liya ho
Chori-chori man panchhi ude naina jude!

3rd Composition: RAAG Jaunpuri

Chandrika dekh chhayi piya chandrika dekh chhayi
