Chapter 8

Paridhi shook in fear slowly hearing the voice. She looked at Rajat. Rajat could see it in her eyes that she was terrified. He went to her a hugged her, “ don’t worry I will not let him do anything. Let’s go back to the site.”

When they reached the site they saw that the lunch had been served on the site itself. Dr Bashak smiled at Paridhi “ Was he always like this?” Paridhi blushed “Maaam .” everyone burst out laughing.

“Jab main waha se laut rahi thi mujhe laga ke jkoi mujhe dekh raha hai. Main murkar dekhne lagipar koi nahi tha. Mujhe thoda dar laga. Main dar kar apne kamre mein chali gayi. Jab main kamre mein baithe thi to dekha koi parade ke piche chup ke mujhe thank raha hai. Main choir se waha tak gayi aur Prada hata ke dekha to waha ek chota sa balak tha. “Aap kaun?” humne poocha “ hum khane Khana Rahim.” Bache ne bataya. “ Aap kaun.?” Usne ultra mujhe poocha. “ hum Jodha begam.”humne jawab diya. “ Acha to aap hai nahi begam, kya hum aapko choti Ammijaan keh sakte hai.” He asked innocently “ Haan bilkul.” Humne kaha “ acha thik hai kehke woh bhaag gaye.”

“ Rahim as in the poet Rahim”Asked Proff Dixit “ yes” Answered Rajat “He was very fond of Jodha.” He said “ yes he was NY first urdu teacher, my first Quran teacher.” Paridhi said.

“Aaj sham ko jashn hai. Maasa aur Ammijaan dono ne Millar mujhe taiyar kiya. Jashan Der raat tak chla. Sahanshah ke nazre baar baar meri taraf hi aarahi thi. Jab bhi woh meri taraf dekhte mera hriday tezi se dhadakta. Pata nahi kiyun.”

Rajat was looking directly at Paridhi, Paridhi looked up with a shy smile. “ I still can’t take my eyes off you.” Rajat thought.

“Maasa aur baapusa aaj chalegaye. Main aaj jab Ambe Mata ke mandir se laut rahi thi tab meri mulakat Bakshi bano ke pati Shariffuddin se hui. Woh bole ke woh Bakshi bano ke liye kuch tohfa lene nazar aye the. Paar mujhe unki aankhe thik nahi lagi. Bahut hi maili nazar thi. Jaise nazron se mere vastra... main ne Sahanshah ko nahi bataya. Kya pata bura maan jaye.”

Paridhi looked up to see hurt and anger in Rajat’s eyes ,she looked away “ you should have told me I would have believed you.” He said “ I don’t think so Rajat.” Proff Dixit. “ She was new and he was your brother in law.” He said Rajat got up with a jerk dropping his chair behind him. “ you should have told me. I ... I failed you didn’t I Paridhi, when you needed meI wasn’t their.” He walked away a little distance. “ I think we should be getting back to our work and leave them alone for sometime. “ said Dr Bashak. Everyone except Paridhi got up and left.

Paridhi got up and went to him. Touched his shoulder softly, Rajat turned and looked at her their were tears in his eyes. “ No you didn’t , you were the best, the best husband, the best companion, it was just our fate.” She said caressing his cheek. Rajat caught hold of her hand a kissed it. “I would have gauged out his eyes if I would have known. And now he is still trying to separate us. I won’t let him this time, I won’t let you go.” Saying so Rajat pulled her near. “I'll never let you go .” He said claiming her lips again. He kissed her softly with all his love in that one kiss. It felt good to be back in his arms. It felt like home.

But Paridhi could feel the chilling finger tip of danger in the air. Rajat deepened the kiss. Softly pushing her lips with his tongue she forgot about the danger for the time being, she moaned softly. “ I’m still crazy about you, you know that right.” Rajat said nuzzeling her neck with his nose. Paridhi moaned.”yes so am I.”

Chapter 9

Dr Dixit watched them from far. He couldn’t believe the miracle of God. Two lovers from the pages of history were in front of him. In today’s day no one would believe that love could be so deep.

“ Have you restored Jalal’s painting ?” Paridhi asked “Yes some of it .” answers Rajat still nuzzeling her neck. “you wanna see it’s at the palace.” He said. “ Can we go.” It was almost five o clock. “ let’s ask Proff.” Rajat said “Proff. Paridhi wants to see the restoration work can we take the jeep.”He asked Proff. Proff. Looked at Rajat, gave him a knowing smile. “ Is that why you wannabe go? “ He asked. Rajat blushed and scratched his head “ hey it was her idea not mine.” Paridhi gave a playful slap on his arm “ Ok go.” He said Rajat mouthed a silent thank you and boarded the jeep.

They reached the fort by 15 mins got off the jeep and ran inside like children. They went up the stairs to Jodhas room. Rajat went to the table and uncovered the painting. Paridhi came to his side and looked at it. “ I think you looked better with the longer hair aand moustache.” She said taking the painting from his hand. Rajat took it back from her hand and held her from behind. So you don’t like me now. Paridhi smiled “ hmmm let me think...” she shook him off and looked at him with mischief in her eyes, “ may be... may be not . “ saying so Paridhi ran out of the room “ Pari...” Rajat called running behind her. “ Jab hum aap ko pakrenge to aap saaza ki haqdaar Hongi" Rajat said following her. “ dand to tab denge jab aap humein pakrenge.” Paridhi answered, she ran laughing through the palace galleries. She ran up the stairs to the terrace. Rajat was in the terrace before her as he had come from the other side he hid behind the pillar and as she passed the pillar he pulled Paridhi to him and pinned her to the wall. “Aab!” Paridhi was breathing fast. She looked into his eyes and felt like she was back in time, when she and her Shahanshah would play arround the galleries of Agra and Amer. And when she was caught, her Sahanshah would make wild love to her as punishment. “ Rajat... let me go.” She said breathing fast “ Have I ever let you go before this.” Rajat said coming closer to her. “ huhhhh Rajat ...” Rajat caressed her cheeks “ Sadiya beet gayi hai... par aaj bhi hum aapke in honton ke pyaase hai. Aaj bhi aap ko dekh ke dil me mohabbat ki eyesi aag jalti hai jo bujhne ka naam hi nahi leta.” He said nuzzeling her neck. Kissing her neck and shoulder. Paridhi moaned Rajat looked at her and then captured her lips in his kissing her deeply. His hands were roaming on her body he pulled her dupatta aside and move his lips to her neck and shoulder. “God....Pari.... you are still the most beautiful girl. I want to....” he kissed her exposed cleavage. Touched her b****t from top of her clothes. “ I want you pari... I want you now...” Pari tried to escape but Rajat caught her by her wrist. “ We can’t Rajat...” he pulled her to him her back collided with his chest. He slowly moved her hair looking at her and kissed her shoulder. Paridhi was breathing fast, he nibbled her earlobe, his arms snaked to the front and started kneading her b****t “ Rajat ... please try to understand. At that time I was your wife. We are not yet married now. Please you have to wait.” Paridhi said panting she was loosing herself as well. Rajat kissed her shoulder one last time and let her go. He rested his head on Paridhi’s shoulder and breathed hard. “ How am I ever going to keep my hands off you till we are married?” He asked.

“ Don' t worry I'm going to talk to Paridhi’s parents as soon as we return to Kolkata.” Came the voice of Dr Bashak. They turned around to look in surprise. “ What is going on here?” asked Proff Dixit “ keep your hands to yourself Sahanshah, she is not your wife anymore.” He said. Rajat pulled Paridhi to his side by her hips “ Married or not she will always be my sharik e haayat. No one can take my Jodha begam away from me this time. I will go till the end of the world to finish of Shariffuddin if I have to.” He said with fire in his voice. Paridhi rested her head on his shoulder. “ we will. Not you alone we will.”

It was dark outside. Time to go back to the hotels. Today Dr Bashak pulled Paridhi along with her “ your coming with me, I dont trust both of you.” Said Dr Bashak. But Rajat was not ready to let her go. He kept holding her hand. “ Let her go... Rajat.” Scolded Proff. Rajat let her go reluctantly. “ See you tommrow.” He said sulking. “ stop sulking and being impatient.” Said Proff. Dixit.

Paridhi tossed and turned in her bed she couldn’t sleep. She couldn’t forget the feeling of Rajats lips on her. She got up and went to the windows.

Rajat was back in the forest “ Jodha.... Jodha.... Pari... where are you?” he ran into the forest. He reached the clearing calling out for Paridhi . When he reached the clearing he was shocked to see Paridhi tied up to a tree she was unconscious. He ran to the tree and tried to open her ties, but was pushed far away. He looked up to see the headless body of Shariffuddin standing next to her with his hand on her head. There was a detached laughter “ hahahaha humari hai sirf humari....hahahaha.”

“ Naahi....” Rajat got up screaming. He was sweating profusely. “ Kabhi nahi nahi humari Jodha begum ko tum haath bhi nahi laga paoge. Zarurat pari to hum Tumhe zaharnum mein Jake khatam karke ayenge.”
