You guys are amazing!!! And I am amazed at how active the forum is and the love for Maaneet after all these years. to all of you!
So here is the first part. Hope you enjoy!
PART #1 - The Prelude
Geet drummed her fingers on the table, exasperated that she was having this discussion again.
"No" she said, hoping that it would end this discussion.
Unfortunately for her, it didn't.
"What do you mean no?" Her aunt shot up from the chair, making no effort to adorn the mask of saccharine sweetness anymore.
She flinched seeing the sneer on her aunt's face - as a child she had been so scared of her aunt and her temper - she had been at the receiving end of it so many times for no fault of hers.
At 25 years old, you'd think she would be free from the shackles of tight power her uncle and aunt always held over her.
But she wasn't. She liked to think she was getting there, and GH Interiors, the company that she'd so lovingly set up was the first step in that.
"Rajjo, sit down" her uncle said, curling his fingers over her aunt's hand and pulling her back down to the chair, "look Puttar, we are only asking you to sell part of your ownership to help your brother"
Geet made no effort to suppress the snort that just escaped her, mustering all the courage she had, she looked at her uncle straight in the eye "20% of my ownership isn't going to get you the money you want, and besides, this is my company - I let you, Tai ji and Brij veer ji have some ownership only because you raised me"
A few seconds passed where her aunt glared at her, shooting absolute daggers at her.
"Someone is willing to pay the price we are asking for 20% of your ownership, we have arranged for you to meet him in his office. You will sign the papers without a word"
Geet banged her palms on the table and shot up from her chair, "what the hell do you mean arranged for me to meet him?"
An evil smile graced her aunt's face, "exactly what it sounds like - we arranged for a buyer so that we could use that money to pay off the debt of my son"
The rage that was building in Geet threatened to overpower her sanity - she had never been this angry, "and what makes you think I'll agree? And even if I do, what makes you think I'll hand over that money to you - money which I earned because OF MY HARD WORK"
The knowing smile that passed between her uncle and aunt did nothing to calm her - in the contrary it only fuelled her anger more
"For the same reason why you still put up with us, sweet girl. For the same reason why you let us have 45% ownership in your company. Because if you don't, you won't get the haveli your dad left you"
She couldn't believe this! Now they were threatening her openly?
All she had left of her late parents was the house where she was born - she had such fond memories of that house - where she has spent the first 10 years of her life, and the best and the only years she had with her parents.
Geet had held on to the hope that some day she would be able to get it back - because that wasn't just a house, for her it was where the memories of her mom and dad still resided.
"Selling 20% of my ownership means I lose my majority in ownership. And Tai ji, I'm not fooled for a second to think that the minute I do that, you won't think twice to throw me out"
"We would never do that, Puttar"
She wasn't sure if her uncle even convinced himself, let alone convince her - her uncle always seemed to actually show a semblance of care for her, but for some reason could never override his wife.
Over the years, Geet had started to believe the loving, caring uncle she had thought him to be, who used to scoop her up on her shoulder and dance with her, who used to side with her when her mother scolded her, who was more of a father to her than uncle - that man was probably nothing but a figment of her imagination.
But her childhood had been filled with love from him.
And for him, she nodded, "I'll help you" she said, looking at her uncle, "but I'm not selling my company" she said hurriedly, looking the smile spread across her aunt's face, "so you can call that man and tell him I'm not interested"
Her aunt frowned at her, "and how are you going to cough up so much money?"she growled.
She smiled at her aunt, "I'll let you know when I think of a solution"
She flinched as her aunt lunged forward, "RAJJO!" Her uncle shrieked in surprise.
"I'm not going to hit her" her aunt shushed him, as she grabbed her shoulders with such force that Geet winced.
" Listen to me very carefully Geet - If my son goes to jail because of you, Rab ki kasam, I will destroy everything that belonged to your mom and dad, and this bloody company. I'll ensure you can never even lay a hand on that haveli"
Tears stung her eyes, and Geet blinked furiously to push it away, "understood" she mumbled, wondering why how long she was going to let this woman do this to her.
Taking a few deep breaths to compose herself after they left, Geet pulled her laptop close, opening her calendar to cancel all the appointments this week.
Picking up the phone, she dialled Anjali, her lawyer and her best friend, "Anj, I need an update about the property." she said as soon as her friend picked up the phone, without even waiting for her friend to say hello.
It had taken a hell a lot of courage to sneak around behind her aunt's back to get the documents of her parents property
As soon as she had laid her hand on it, she had wasted no time in sending a copy of it to her lawyer friend.
"Good news or bad news first?"
Sensing that the worst was yet to come, she gulped, "give me the bad one first"
"There's a property dispute on the land the house was built"
Geet's heart sank.
"But that's not it" Anjali went on, "Uncle Ji mortgaged the property 20 years ago and the release of the property is now set to 45 crores"
"45 CRORES!!!!"
"Yep, the good news is - I can easily sway the property dispute in your favour. And your uncle and aunt don't have any rights on this. It's all yours - but for it to be yours, you need to pay the bank 45 crores"
You need to pay the bank 45 crores
The words kept ringing in her ear all day. How on earth was she supposed to manage that money?
Even if she sold the entire share of her ownership in her company to the man her aunt was mentioning about, it wouldn't work out to even half that amount.

Maan frowned, skimming through the contents of the email he had just received gave him a headache - it was from the operations head of one of his companies asking if he would be available to meet the owner of an exciting new business.
The email went on to gush about how much this small family business had grown in 2 years and why he thought it would be a great idea to collaborate with them.
Maan rolled his eyes and was about to press 'delete' when the name caught his eye.
GH Interiors.
Why did that ring a bell. Pressing a finger to his temple, he closed his eyes, raking his mind as to why on earth that name sounded so familiar.
Then he remembered.
With a smile, he picked up the intercom
"Y-y-yes sir?"
"Adi, find out everything you can about Geet Handa. 1 hour"
He didn't wait for an answer before slamming the phone down. Grabbing the papers his lawyers had sent him, he pushed back his chair as he stood up.
He had read through these contracts once and he knew his lawyers had done a stellar job of including everything he has asked to be included. The other contract that they had sent over was tight too - there was no way anyone could work that to their advantage.
If his Dadi wanted him to play this game, he was ready for this.
And he was going to do it his way.
****** To be continued ******
Do let me know what you all though, and thank you so much for the love and encouragement for my story!

Just wondering how Maan knows Geet???
Will be waiting
