PART 17
FLASHBACK CONTINUES...
After sometime as the effect of the injection started wearing off, I gradually started gaining my consciousness.
This time when I opened my eyes, a girl who seemed somewhat younger to me was sitting inside the room.
As she saw me awake, she too ran out to bring the doctors.
I wanted to stop her and ask my questions but decided not to do anything stupid this time that would again lead the doctors to send me back to sleep without answering my queries.
The doctors and nurses gradually filled in the room but this time they were accompanied by that girl and also a young man who seemed to be around my age.
I couldn't recognize any of them.
After the preliminary checkups were done, one of the doctor enquired me how was I feeling but I couldn't answer him back for the obvious reason. So I moved my hands and mouth trying to make them understand that I wasn't able to speak.
It took them time to decipher what I was trying to tell them but finally they understood.
The other doctor enquired if I remember how and when I came here.
I shook my head in negative so he told me about how while crossing the road I got hit by the car. This made me remember the incident in bits but my memory was still blurry.
He then told me that the young man, named Yash, was the person who was driving the car that night. There was sudden brake failure and therefore, he was trying to control the car but before he could succeed in his attempts, I got hit by the car which resulted in its crashing into a tree at the roadside.
We both suffered some minor injuries which got healed very soon but I had already slipped into comma by then. Since there was no fixed time known when I would wake up again, they got me shifted to their town, Amritsar.
It had been 6 months since I had been lying there on that hospital bed and these two people took care of everything that was needed, from my medicines to the hospital expenses.
And as far as my voice was concerned, they needed to perform some tests on me before saying anything.
He said it may take some time but they would try their best to give me back what I have lost.
I nodded and the doctors and nurses went away leaving me with Yash and that girl.
The girl came forward moments after all were gone and started pleading me.
We are very sorry for what happened with you but please forgive us.
I know your loss is very big but please don't punish my brother for this.
An FIR has been launched against him on your behalf regarding the accident and he is out on a bail as of now.
I know he has done a very big mistake but he wasn't at fault.
The car brakes failed and it went out of control. You were in the middle of the road and he couldn't save you.
It was all an accident. He didn't do it intentionally.
Please take the complaint back. We will do anything you want but please take it back.
He is my only family and I can't loose him. Also he has recently taken over our father's business after his demise. They both have worked really hard to build their name in the corporate world.
This complaint will ruin his and our company's image in the market. We will loose our everything.
Please help us, please.
And she started crying bitterly with her hands folded in front of me whereas Yash came forward to support her. He wasn't even able to meet his eyes with mine.
His eyes were watery watching his sister's pleading and my condition was no different from theirs.
I knew they were innocent and their guilt was visible in their actions, so how could have I left them to suffer for no mistake of theirs.
Instead I was thankful to them as they had been taking care of me since so long and taking back the complaint was the least I could have done for them. So I agreed to take back the FIR and that brought a wave of happiness in that otherwise glum hospital ward.
END OF FLASHBACK
I was brought out of my reverie by a knock at my cabin door.
Wiping the tears off my face I opened the door only to find Yash standing outside. He too seemed lost somewhere maybe that's the reason he didn't notice my red and puffy eyes.
How was the meeting? Who did the explanation part?
I replied using my sign language that it went fine and Adi gave the presentation.
While trying to interpret my answer he noticed my face and got worried.
You don't seem to be alright. Is there any problem you want to share?
I shook my head in negative but Yash was adamant that I take proper rest.
He sent me back home and ordered to take a day off tomorrow.
I sat in the car and the driver started towards our sweet little home.
Yash had always been like this. He can never see me in any kind of discomfort.
I have many times told him that I have no regrets about the accident since I met them because of it but I feel he still considers himself responsible for my condition. He takes care of me even more than his own sister. He behaves just like my mother, especially when there is any issue related to my health.
I am so lucky to have them in my life. But as they say "No one can take place of your family in this world". I miss them all a lot. Please send them back in my life god, please.
