Yes it is all connected to Roshni's death and at the time the they were all very close friends. Rathore needs someone to soften him up a bit more.

Arjun has misconceptions regarding Priya, who once was a very close friend, but there are things that he was told had made him misunderstand her.

Priya and Riya are similar in some ways but they are not the same. There is reason why Arjun was taken with Riya and why she got so close to him. Things will fall into place as the story progresses.
