October 10 at the World Cup: West Indies eye winning momentum against bruised Bangladesh
After a dominating performance against Scotland to get their first win, West Indies will be looking to continue in the same vein against Bangladesh to strengthen their bid to finish in the top two from Group B. Bangladesh, meanwhile, won't be pushovers, and the conditions in Sharjah are well-suited for their bowling combination as they will look to challenge West Indies and in the process keep their own hopes of qualification afloat.
West Indies were blown away by the South African openers in their first game but came back strongly to breeze past Scotland that boosted their NRR and took them to No.2. But the lack of runs at the top, especially from Hayley Matthews, is a concern for West Indies and the captain will be keen to allay those by leading from the front. Meanwhile, the likes of Qiana Joseph and Deandra Dottin getting amongst the runs, and their disciplined bowing performance, are among the positives for West Indies who will be hoping to put on another collective show.
Bangladesh started with a victory against Scotland but fell short against England despite posing a stiff challenge to Heather Knight's team. It's their batting that has been a let-down for the team, with Sobhana Mostary (36 and 44) being the lone contributor so far. While their bowling has been good so far, Bangladesh need to step up with the bat if they are to shake things up in Group B.
