Why not simply believe it? It would be ridiculous to lie about that as his co-stars and others from the filmindustry would know it and easily could mock him/out him.

So, Kartik certainly has flaws but drinking (alcohol) may not be part of his personality

It is likely that his motto of "say no to drugs and booze" was one of the primary reasons preventing him from endearing himself to KJo's inner circle..

There are people who don't drink at all even if parent, friends might be drinking at events or at home. Know few such people and admire them as it is incredible not to drink when at parties all are having it. One of friend doesn't even have sodas.

According to Hindu religion it is sin to drink alcohol.
