Point being Seeta mata wasn't pregnant until they returned to Ayodhya. They didn't lead a Grahasta jeevan during vanvas.

I guess it was left open for interpretation depending upon the level and imagination of the reader and the era they belonged to. My mind never went there until now but come to think of it they may have stayed celibate for several reasons. For one, Lakshmana and his wife had nothing to do with it but yet they gave up their pleasures to support their elder brother so why would .Rama and Sita indulge themselves? I mean it was said the people of Threta Yuga had the highest morals and abided by the most strictest rules. So may be our watered down moralistic sense won’t even be able to gauge the entire philosophy behind each of their actions.
