Eros did the same with BM too, budget was 145 crores but they distributed at lower price and got a Hit tag from BOI for earning 184 crores

But Koimoi gave BM a Plus tag too, not Hit tag

Producer sells movie to distributors at a certain price, if distributors just recover that price, its average or semi hit, if they make a profit then its a superhit, if they make huge profits then its BB or ATBB

Thats called ROI or return of investment

Hit, superhit tags are given by Indian trade sites ONLY on basis of distribution price in INDIA, Not WORDWIDE

and AFAIK that doesnt count selling of satellite rights, music rights, etc

Now these Padmaavat producers Viacom distributed the movie themselves

so did they price it at 100 crores when cost of making the movie was 200 crores?

ETA: I would request members to stop putting disclaimers saying you're a fan/you aren't. It's a free forum where nobody knows anybody and the stars sitting in their five star like bedrooms don't even have the knowledge of our existence and don't care what we write. So let's just feel free to write whatever we want in a free forum like IF instead of giving explanations for what we post.( Saying in general, not indicated at anyone specific. I've done that too in the past.)
