A lot has been debated on nepotism already.
As Kajol rightly said, "It is a debate brought
on by two personalities (referring to Karan
Johar and Kangana Ranaut) who have
decided to quote- unquote each other . I
honestly think it's a moot point because
every child wants to grow up and be like
their parents. Lawyers' children grow up
and become lawyers, and doctors' children
grow up and become doctors. And
sometimes both of their children become
actors While the argument refuses to die
down. Suneil Shetty further expresses his
dismay over actors getting targeted for no
reason considering he achieved everything
on his own merit, despite being an outsider.
This happened during the trailer launch of
Deepak Anand's The Rally which was held
recently. Given that Suneil's daughter Athiya
Shetty was launched by Salman Khan
through her debut film, "Hero, the actor
was quizzed about nepotism and he angrily
set the facts straight saying, "Somewhere
down the line it happens in all fields
because this is what attracts maximum TRPs
and media. We are talked about. Nobody
gave me a break; I wasn't a part of the
industry. I was a part of South Bombay
where we looked at cinema only in theaters.
I hadn't even gone into a studio in my life.
You know, so it is my journey that I created
and if my child is getting an opportunity
then why would anybody object? You see
politics, you see businessman, no major
cooperate house will have the next gen to
take over, the chairman to take over is
someone other than from his family. Have
you heard that ever? He might have a CEO or
a COO or a CFO but the chairman is always
the chairman and that's family. So why hang
us all the time, constantly?
Citing how it's disturbing to see Athiya
being bracketed under "nepotism, just
because she's Suniel Shetty's daughter, he
added, "It hurts because it is not easy for my
daughter. She did her first film, it was a 40
crore film but it didn't work. And once that
perception is created then they say it didn't
work. She had to work towards her second
film. Nobody gave her a chance after that. So
I think this needs to end sometime or the
other because it hurts a hell of a lot when
people keep saying that.
Suniel Shetty also gave real life examples to
make it easier for people to understand as
he concluded, "Somebody from the army
who gives his life for the army would want
his child to get that respect. Because as a
father, he is comfortable in that space so he
wants his child in that space that he's
comfortable in. I don't want to send that
child where I don't know that world.
Everyone thinks the same way for their
children right? Even you want your child to
go to a good school. So even I want my
children to go to a good place and for me
the best place to be in is my industry. I love
my industry and I am proud of it.

What is he talking about? Army like seriously ? So much mumbo jumbo .

Tell your daughter to sharpen her skills and make her so talented that all the naysayer shut up instead of crying about how the world is unfair to his UNTALENTED average looking girl who is being handed a career without any work put in.

Is he out of his mind ? He is comparing doctors, lawyers and army people with starkids given an entry into BW because of a last name ? Which doctor, lawyer or army person sent their kid to work in their fields without any training ? If they wanted to become like papa they had to study, pass exams, go through rigorous training to do so. No one hands them anything on the strength of the last name. They work for it. Starkids don't, get in on last name. Hence the debate.
As for his daughter, with her face who the hell would give her entry into BW of she was not her father's daughter. Hell even KO, baap of nepotism would not take her on, he knows which starkid to take a bet on. He can keep his daughter safely at home soon as Mubarakan will most likely fail.

Although it would deprive millions of fans from her acting talents still I must ask Sunil with a heavy heart to keep his daughter at his home eventhough she would be dearly missed. Unlike facing bullets she can be saved from tomatoes thrown at her as clearly she had no training to defend herself.

So sick of this debate and thrs nothing wrong with creating opportunities for your children, how they survive is the real test. RK was talented hence ppl liked him, Athiya isnt and therefore she didnt work.

I will agree with doctors part cause I have first hand experience in this field. Rich and powerful doctors can do a lot more than what people think. They can sent them to private colleges, pay for their exams, buy them their degrees. If nothing works get them fake degrees from foreign institues with no credibility. They will go to any extent to bring their children a respectable position in their society. Then they will give them their private nursing homes to run as MD and stuff. Some even get them in private hospitals with political backing. There is a major crackdown going on now but this practice was in place since decades.
Whats funny and sad for me is nepotism is everywhere. In some profession that practice is so heinous and dangerous that it costs thousands of life. But the media is only interested in questioning bollywood that barely affects a normal human being.I wish they went after doctors and engineers this aggressively.Very little coverage is given to them and for very short time but with bollywood its going on for months. it would have helped to spread awareness amongst the people that they should be very careful when it concerns their life. Not just blindly follow people. But no biggest problem of our country is how bollywood invests its money in its own children and depriving the nation of quality entertainment.

she would have never gotten a 2nd movie based on 1st..so stop whining and may be ask her to polish her skills..

even then she would have to listen to these things..ranbir and alia despite being talented still do..so that would be there but at least she will have her talent to justify the opportunities given to her

I liked suniel.. I was a huge fan back in 90s. It's sad seeing the actors who I like growing up.. making these absurd stupid comments..

face it ur daughter sucks.. she doesn't have the looks, the talent and acting chops. If she wasn't ur daughter, would the industry give her a chance with the way she looks over other beautiful girls that r coming to the industry?

I don't think so!!

Athiya Shetty Bollywood2 Bollywood Bollywood 2 Alina gifs

Athiya would make a good model but not a good actor. She has zero expressions and X factor. Arjun has been recommending her left, right centre. Recent reports were that he is recommending Athiya to Ranveer for a role in Padmavati. An outsider would never get this opportunity as they would have to prove them selves first. She is photogenic. Has good skin, hair and height but somehow can't see as her as the next big thing.
