Did Kangana Ranaut kick director Ketan Mehta out of the Rani Lakshmibai biopic?
Kangana Ranaut is going to start the Rani Lakshmibai biopic, minus director Ketan Mehta...
After Rangoons debacle, Kangana Ranaut had taken a break from movies and gone on a mini vacation. The actress did a lot of thinking during this period and looks like she has made a huge decision during this break. According to a report in BollywoodHungama.com, the actress has got Ketan Mehta replaced from the Rani Lakshmibai biopic and roped in a new director - Krish. The film has been in the pre-production stage since the past two years now and looks like it is finally hitting the floors this week, minus the main figure, Ketan Mehta.
Earlier this month, Kangana had mentioned in an interview with Rajeev Masand that she wants to be autonomous like Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. Elaborating about the same, she had mentioned, "I am very possessive of my credits. I am fed up of taking instructions. Directors have their own sob story to tell." And hence, according to an entertainment portal, she has got Ketan replaced with Gabbar Is Back director, Krish.
For those of you who don't know, the Rani Lakshmibai biopic has been titled as Manikarnika (the real name of Rani Laxmibai) and is written by SS Rajamouli's father, KV Vijayendra Prasad. The film will revolve around an ordinary girl, who is trapped in quite a few difficult situations. How she decides to fight her battle and discovers the warrior within herself forms the rest of the story. Apparently, a top studio is also keen on producing the film and everything will be finalised in a few days.
Meanwhile, Ketan Mehta, who had been planning to make the films since a few years now, might not be a part of it. A few years ago, the filmmaker had roped in Sushmita Sen, but the movie failed to take off. He revived the project and signed Kangna Ranaut. However looks like his dream has been crushed once again.
