Katiyabaaz:

Fantastic film on a grim reality of Northern India...very very relevant subject to pick and very interestingly presented in this documentary form in a sense...Loha Singh was such a character😆...very engrossing watch especially for the way the viewpoint of all the people involved is presented...everyone from the aam junta just trying to survive in the face of such odds stacked against them to the resident self-styled Robin Hood stealing electricity to the big bad corporations and the politicians taking the gullible junta for a ride for their own self-serving interests...it is sobering to realize how huge the problem of electricity still remains in India and the royal mess it is from all angles...a vicious cycle of incompetency and corruption where people just keep pointing fingers at each other while the aam junta looks on in despair.

Gangs of Wasseypur:

Long overdue, finally managed to watch it...Thank you, Netflix😆...it starts off with quite the bang and the way the backstory of the blood feud is built up is very engaging but I found the ending to be a bit overdone and it fell kinda flat for me. Regardless, a very gripping piece of work from Kashyap...one of the better revenge sagas from Indian cinema

Talvar:

Well made film but it invariably loses the battle on objectivity and leans towards the parents...some crucial questions are lost in the blame games happening b/w the two parties presenting their theories...by the end I mainly felt sickened at how it all just became about ego battles and self-serving interests rather than about truth and justice and barely a thought spared to the dignity of the victim...the macabre aspect of human nature displayed in all it's glory...it speaks for something when it is the royal mess of the investigation, the sheer lack of humanity from the investigation team or the media exploiting it that disgusts you more than the actual murder.

I also felt that no one followed up on a crucial point...why did the wife/husband instantly blame the servant the moment they supposedly discover the girl's body? That was one question neither of the teams diligently questioned the parents about and the movie didn't explore it either.

BARFI

I am a hardcore bollywood fan since 1990. But i took a break from watching movies after 2007 until 2010. I used this time to watch almost all highly rated bollywood movies.

Anurag Basu is one of my all-time fav directors. I loved Gangster. You feel for characters he creates.

In Barfi, Ranbir Kapoor has been cast spot on. Priyanka Chopra too. Together, they create magic. Acting of both artists are on par but Barfi is well-known for Ranbir's acting than Priyanka's acting, don't know the reason why.

Songs- love them all.

It is slow and depressive at certain points and it could have been crisper but overall, a really beautiful and simple movie.

Does Ranbir deserve best actor awards for Barfi? - YES

Highly recommended!

Airlift

Watched the movie and absolutely loved it 👏 End was such a proud moment for me ( i am sure many like me ) as an Indian . I am glad this movie is made and i came to know about this achievement by India ( which deserves all the accolades ) and just wish that more movies like this are made .
Akshay was phenomenal both in performance and looks - no words to explain . Everyone else did their job nicely but after Akshay i liked the guy playing George ( irritating south indian guy ) , indian official in Delhi and Indian muslim guy Ibrahim.

The only other thing i wanted to see was the efforts/coverage of Air India in the end so that was the disappointing thing .

Bahubali..
Its a good watch..
First part had some stuff which I found too much over the top like jumping from waterfalls, bouncing off the trees etc. Some people overacting, then some unintentionally funny scenes like the old woman waiting for her son with dialogues sounding like "Mere Karan Arjun aayenge"😆
But storywise it kept me hooked.. Never a dull moment. Its grandeur and scale was amazing.
I was skeptical to watch it because of its war-action theme, but those war scenes were the actual highlight.. especially the last one. Thankfully the war strategies seemed logical..
Prabhas was really impressive. He did both the roles very well as Shiva and as Bahubali.. Rana was good as well.. Tamanna gives me the vibe of Kareena in her early days.. Some parts she overacted, but in some she was good..
The songs seemed unnecessary to me.. Didn't go with the flow except the first one.
I'll definitely catch the second part in theatre.
Katappa ne aakhir Bahubali ko kyon maara? 😆
PS: I think it must be some pre decided, good intentional move.. like how Snape kills Dumbledore😛

Airlift review

Went in with huge expectations, considering the rave reviews, superb word of mouth and the BO collections..came out a bit underwhelmed..nevertheless a good attempt at recreating the situation in Kuwait and how humanity won over (adding splash of patriotism)

It somehow lacked grip..or what next element, understandably so..and was a bit dry in the first half of the movie..but the last 15 minutes, when the flag is raised and there on, the movie just escalated to another level..

all the actors did a great job..loved the transition in Ranjit Katyal's character..keeping the gimmicks to bare minimum..Akki performed wonderfully, but somehow Special 26 to me, is still his best performance..Nimrat, being a competent actress, stood out in the confrontation scene with George..I loved Purab Kohli here..he made quite an impact!

3/5 for this one..
