TV actors may enjoy more connect than film stars. They even work harder & in worse conditions compared to film stars. But they are bound to be looked down upon due to their own dependence on movies & movie stars! And their lack of original content!
Most serials copy tracks from movies or recreate scenes from famous films or use movie songs in background. TV stars perform to movie songs at their award shows & they themselves make movie actors chief guests or rally around them doing "Aamir ji", "Shahrukh ji", "Bachchan ji", "Salman ji"!
Now if you yourself behave inferior, do nothing original or rely on movies to popularise your content then how are you going to get respect?
No offense to any TV star or their fans but fact is that many TV actors stylise themselves after movie stars! Ronit Roy has a sort of Amitabh Bachchan hangover, Shweta Salve used to have a Madhuri Dixit hangover, some young male actors totally try to ape Salman & Hrithik. Most actors attempt to copy Shahrukh in romantic scenes or take after Aamir if doing a serious/preachy role. How will they get respect if they have no individuality?
In past, TV actors had individuality but they were too plain & non-glamorous. Since last decade they have acquired gloss & glamour but lack individuality!
Just stop aping movies & movie stars & quit lifting story ideas from movies! Be so original that movie people themselves feel compelled to respect you & your work!
And at TV awards, have veterans of TV as chief guests instead of going on a sycophantic trip over movie stars! Years ago, Sunil Shetty was giving awards to Smriti Irani & Ronit Roy at ITA & they were like "Sunil ji" for him! Come on! When you guys can act way better than that man can ever hope to in his entire lifetime, and when you enjoy more popularity then why go all "Sunil ji"??!!
Lot of hype is given even to movie stars when they do TV as if they did great favour by deciding to work in TV shows. TV industry needs to tone down that as well. No need to make a huge deal of X, Y, Z star coming to TV for first time! Stars need TV for added popularity & money, TV doesn't need stars to get eyeballs!
