In town yesterday, Ayesha spoke at length about her forthcoming film, Nagesh Kukunoor's Mod. "I play a simple yet independent girl from a small town who works in a clock repair store. A mod (turning point) comes in her life one day when she falls in love," she informs, adding, "A simple story but high on romance." So, is she a romantic person in reality? "Love rules my world — I'm such a sucker for romance. I can do anything for those I love," she reveals.
Co-incidentally, Mod is Ayesha's third film with Nagesh. "We worked first inDor and that film was an epic. Since then, we did Tasveer and were waiting for an opportunity to work again when Mod was conceptualised," she recollects. So, is it an advantage to get recast by a director? "Over three films, Nagesh and I understand each other so well. The minute he looks up from the monitor, I know how the scene has gone. It helps to work together repeatedly — both of us know we're only striving to make the film better," Ayesha explains. Quiz her about her co-star Rannvijay Singh and she says, "Nagesh and I wanted to cast someone comparatively new to keep intact the freshness and vulnerability and Rannvijay was an ideal choice. In fact, Nagesh's sets are pretty serious but this time, we just went crazy."
Ayesha insists the number game has never bothered her. "I'm never had a strategy and have always felt that life's just got better with every decision I've taken. There have been people who thought I was insane to get married so early but why put good things for the end?" she questions. In fact, to broaden her interests, Ayesha's also actively a part of her restaurateur husband's business now. "It's fun to have more opportunities — who knows what's waiting around the bend," the actor signs off.
