Chapter 4 - The Rescue
In any given day, six figures clad in black tactical gear would have resulted in sheer panic, as such, the rescue team moved stealthily towards the school compound wall near the abandoned pumphouse. Riya and Tasha took out grappling hooks and swung those over the wall. Pulling it tight, they nodded to each other.
Riya: “Tasha and I will go first. Karan you are going to be last.”
They held the rope tight and within 30 seconds they scaled the tall wall and reached the other side. ETF team members looked on with their mouth hanging open.
Shree: “Are they Spiderman's cousins?”
Karan couldn’t help but to chuckle at their expression. Once he got the signal of all clear from Riya, he proceeded to get the ETF members to climb. Once everyone reached the other side, they moved towards the pumphouse.
The abandoned pumphouse was entirely consumed by plant life, brick by brick. How much ever humans try to break the nature, the nature has its own way of crawling back to life. With every weed and every tendril, nature always fights its way back to reclaim what was once lost. If left untouched by humans, entire ecosystem thrives. Such was the case. The rescue team encountered several snakes and other critters, and they were thankful for the top-notch gear they were decked in which helped them in avoiding the venomous bites.
Tasha hacked some of the weeds away using her machete, revealing a trap door on the floor. Karan came forward and tried opening the door, but it was not ready to budge. Chotu ended up helping him and after a couple of tries, the hinge moved, letting them open the door slightly. Before they could open it entirely, Riya stopped them.
Riya: “Everyone, put on your gas masks. We have no idea of the condition in the tunnel.”
She watched as the rest of the team members wore their masks. She instructed Tasha and Karan to help the ETF team as they were not used to it. She moved towards Arjun. Closing in on his personal space, she helped him fasten the mask. For a moment their eyes locked. Arjun's heart beating faster with her closeness. She gave him a slight grin and turned away to wear her own mask, leaving him flustered and blushing.
With another instruction from her, everyone turned on their headlights. With hand gestures, she indicated that she would be moving first. Arjun wanted to object, but he knew that she was in-charge, and she certainly can take care of herself. Smothering the protective instinct in him, he folded his fingers in an okay gesture.
Riya lowered herself through the trap door and examined the surrounding. Aside from the grime and dust from God knows how many years, she couldn’t identify any other threats. She gave the okay to rest of the team and one by one, they descended into the trap door with Shree being the last one. As he took a step, he suddenly slipped. He was waiting for the impact of the ground when he found himself half suspended in the air. Confused, he turned his head and found a serious Karan who had wrapped his arm around him stopping his fall. For a moment Shree’s mind went blank as flush crept up his face. Not that anyone could see it under the mask. Karan straightened him while Tasha rolled her eyes at this exchange.
After making sure that everyone has gotten into the tunnel, Karan closed the trap door. With the okay from Karan, Riya moved forward, followed by others. She had her trusted FN Scar-H MK2 assault rifle up and pointed towards the front while both her eyes and her gun barrel scanned the surroundings with each step taken. After what felt like an eternity, she raised a fist. Everyone stopped in their tracks. Riya lowered her rifle while Karan and Tasha came forward to cover her. Riya fiddled with the thermal scanner setup in her left forearm sleeves. The result came as negative. Nodding to her teammates, she pressed a lever on the wall and the next moment, a part of the wall slid open. ETF team couldn’t help but to look at this in wonder whereas the Pack members didn’t even blink an eye as they already information about the secret tunnel.
A tensed 5 minutes passed by as everyone waited for the mercenaries to come flocking to the basement due to the sound the door caused. All these while Tasha was looking at a gadget in her hand which gave her real-time location of the mercenaries. When they were sure that no one heard the sound, they fanned out from the tunnel into the basement. Everyone had a bit of reprieve as they removed the masks. Karan came forward and inspected the shaft that would take him and Shree up to the CCTV room. With a satisfied nod to himself, he turned to Shree and beckoned him over.
Karan: “I am going first. Others will give you a leg up. Stick close to me. Move when I move, stop when I stop. Do you understand me?”
Karan looked at Shree intensely. Shree gulped hard and nodded. Noticing his nervousness, Karan mellowed down a bit and gave him a smile.
Karan: “Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to you. You have my word.”
A small smile broke in Shree’s face at this declaration. He nodded at him to indicate that he was ready. Putting his mask back on, Karan climbed up the shaft. After getting Karan’s signal, Chotu hoisted Shree up thus letting him climb after Karan. The duo travelled through the shaft slowly so as not to make any sound with their bulky gear. It was not at all an easy task. At one point, they had to scale a vertical shaft which would take them up to the ground floor. Karan scaled it first and ended up pulling Shree up. It was tough, but they made it work. Shree mentally thanked Riya for her insistence in wearing the mask as the abandoned shaft was full of dust.
Suddenly Karan stopped making Shree stop as well. He understood that they were near the CCTV room. Pulling a small device from his pocket which had a long wire, he slowly inched the wire closer to the exit of the shaft. Flicking the device, which was in fact a camera, on he observed that there were two people in the room. A quick thermal scan told him that there was no one stationed outside of the room. A big mistake on the mercenaries’ part…
Karan took out a very small canister. Flipping its lid open, he kept it near the exit of the shaft. An odorless and colorless gas came out of the canister. The two mercenaries who were keeping watch on the entire cameras, suddenly felt their eyelids grow heavy. Within a minute they fell, foaming at their mouth. After 5 minutes, Karan once again signaled Shree to follow.
Karan opened the exit window and climbed down to the room. After making sure that the mercenaries were no more, he helped Shree to get down. Even though Shree was aware about the ruthlessness of The Pack, witnessing it firsthand sent a jolt through his system. Meekly he turned towards the monitors. Karan checked the air and declared it to safe to remove the masks. Once the mask was removed, he joined Shree in checking the monitor.
Back in the basement, rest of the team was impatiently for an update from the duo. After what felt like an eternity, their earpiece came to life.
Karan: “We are in.”
Everyone sighed in relief at this.
Shree: “Once you exit the basement, turn left. In 20 meters there are five mercenaries. The other five are on the opposite side.”
With that he started relaying the real time position to them. Splitting into two groups - with Riya, Arjun, and Chotu in one team, and Sameer, Aisha, and Tasha in the other - they moved out of the basement after making sure that everyone had their masks back on. As soon as they reached in the vicinity of the mercenaries on the right, Riya bent down and rolled a canister towards them. With a click, a white gas filled the atmosphere affecting the mercenaries’ vision and breath. Riya, Arjun, and Chotu sprang forward with their silenced bullets finding their targets. One by one, the mercenaries dropped like flies. The same was repeating on Sameer, Aaisha, and Tasha’s side. Once they got confirmation from Shree that all the mercenaries on the ground floor were eliminated, both the groups rendezvoused near the staircase. They stealthily, yet quickly moved towards the first floor. The same process repeated there also. Now all that remaining was the 5 mercenaries with the hostages.
How to lure those mercenaries out was the biggest dilemma. If they can’t take them out together, then hostages’ lives would be in danger. Riya and team knew better than to think that the remaining mercenaries were unaware about the fates of their comrades. This created a dangerous situation, a volatile group, who would have by then realized that something was wrong, with a very large number of hostages…
With a sigh, Riya removed her mask.
Riya: “We can’t gas them out as it will affect the hostages also. We need a new plan.”
Arjun: “What if a couple of us surprise attack through the door? When their attention is focused on us, rest of us can swing down through the glass windows and attack? This way, we can distract them from multiple sides.”
She thought about his idea, and she knew that it was the best idea that could work out in the given circumstances. She prayed that none of the hostages would be harmed in the skirmish. She knew that swinging through the window from the roof requires special training and she would need Karan for that. She ordered him up. It was decided that the ETF team would attack from the door while The Pack would ambush them through the window.
Meanwhile, the leader of the mercenaries was cursing his boss for the so-called hostage plan. He was against the plan from the start as his team was better at killing than babysitting a bunch of hostages. They always operated from shadows, not exposing them much longer to public. Their moto was ‘Go, Kill, Disappear’. With each passing moment, the leader felt more and more exposed. His unease reached to a new level as he realized that he was not able to contact his teammates deployed in the lower floors. Even though he got explicit order from his boss to not to kill the hostages, he was ready to kill them all just to get out of this nightmare. He was checking his option when all of a sudden, the door blasted open. Screams rang in the air as the hostages scrambled as far away from the door as possible. The mercenaries lifted their gun and started shooting towards the door. Screams and gunshots pierced the air. Suddenly three windows exploded simultaneously as three black figures flew through the windows landing behind the mercenaries. The leader whirled around only to come face to face with an assault rifle. Before he could even blink, a shot rang through, piercing his heart point blank. His body sailed backwards at the force of the impact, colliding with another mercenary.
By then, the remaining mercenaries were shot down from all the sides with extreme prejudice. After what felt like an eternity, but in reality was just 5 minutes, silence regained. Even the hostages stopped screaming seeing the last of mercenaries going down. Then the hostages started sobbing in relief.
Riya activated her earpiece.
“Mission accomplished. Mercenaries are down. Hostages are safe. No Casualties.”
Everyone could hear Raghu and Shree’s happy shouts through their earpieces.
They heard several vehicles and ambulances entering the school ground. Hostages started running outside, eager to get far away from there. Taking advantage of this chaos, The Pack and ETF team moved towards the basement. Taking the same tunnel, they got out. Once outside, they changed out of the tactical gears to civilian clothes, the overgrown bushes giving the much-needed privacy for that. They once again climbed the tall compound wall, this time, to get out.
Raghu was waiting impatiently to welcome them back in the booth. As soon as he saw them, a million-watt smile came on his face. He pulled Riya into an enthusiastic hug giving yet another shock to the poor ETF team seeing their boss forego the protocol. If someone asks in the future how the ETF team felt on that day of the hostage crisis, the members would be telling them that all they could remember was the number of shocks they received since that morning…
While Riya was briefing Raghu, Tasha and Karan started packing the tactical gears as well as extra guns they loaned to the ETF team. Arjun looked at this with disappointment. He was not yet ready to part away from the girl who mesmerized him from the first meet. But what he could do…They both belonged in different worlds, and he didn’t know whether they would meet again.
“Hum phir kab milenge?”, Arjun blurted out to Riya.
Everyone looked at him as if he had grown two heads while Riya had an amused smile on her face.
Riya: “Kya ACP saab, khatre se door bhagne ki bajaay, usse phir milne ki bath kar rahe ho?”
Arjun: “Iss khatre ko mein khushi kushi aasmaloonga…”
Pin drop silence prevailed. Riya was the first one to come out of the stupor.
Riya: “If our paths are supposed to collide, we will meet again… Until then, adios…”
With that she sent a flying kiss on his way and walked away chuckling, soon followed by Karan and Tasha.
Arjun looked at her walking away and wished that he would see her soon….

I would say that they need to act fast or else it would create a big issue 😔 well leaving with no options ETF & Arjun volunteered for going there
Raghu then suggested the pack most dangerous & ruthless of the team to be aside in this mission
Riya Karan & Tasha arrived & took charge of the situation leaving ETF in shock 😲 more shocking was their attitude
So finally rearch & planning is done & they are all set to attack the building

Well I really loved the cute moment of Shree & Karan where he held Shree from falling down & then ordered him making him bit scared but his assurance in the end was really beautiful ❤️
Raghu sir knows Riya well & I think last Ariya talks were really cute & but flirty 😃 but Riya replied well even so now bidding bye pack team left

What an entry of our Riya
So finally after bit of hitch ETF team too got involved in finding Choco 😔 who was in a very bad condition 😔
Here after gathering information Arjun & team were about to enter the were house but surprisingly they saw Raghu there & then they came to know that these kids are connected to him
So finally they attacked the were house & Arjun got trapped between the five goons ... Then the magic happens & Riya entered the picture
Kya watt lgai hai goons ke ... Amazing goons alongwith Arjun were completely shocked 😲
Meeting was interesting. But Choco when came running to her then Arjun realized that she is maasi of Aryan & Naila
