Washington Sundar puts up powerful post for Moumita Debnath's Justice; netizens slam Rohit Sharma

The whole of India is shocked and saddened by the horrific rape and murder of Dr Moumita Debnath. The incident happened at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in a seminar room where she was sleeping after working for 36 hours. Yesterday, Sara Tendulkar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammed Siraj raised their voices for the victim. Debnath, 31, was known as an excellent doctor and physician. She was about to complete her thesis. Hundreds of women all over India are protesting against this incident. There is a call for a nationwide bandh by doctors in support of the young lady who died such a horrific death. 

Indian cricket player Washington Sundar has put up a powerful post on the same. He wrote on his Instagram story, “The incident with the young on-duty doctor in Kolkata is horrifying. As a brother, son, friend and man, it terrifies me to imagine this happening to any woman. We as men are undebatably responsible for the safety of women around us, doing anything possible to make them feel comfortable, safe and secure in our presence. Change has to begin with us.” Cricket fans have praised this thoughtful message from Washington Sundar. But they are upset that Rohit Sharma has not said anything on the terrible incident around Moumita Debnath.

There is immense pressure on the West Bengal Government to deliver swift justice. The sad part is the allegation that even the principal of the institute might be involved in the same. The cops have questioned 25 people so far. This includes even HOD of the Department of Chest Medicine. The High Court has asked the CBI to step in. Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor Khan are some of the celebs who raised their voice for Moumita Debnath. Mamata Banerjee has said that the entire police force and state machinery is committed to give justice to the young lady. Investigative teams, forensic doctors and sniffer dogs are deployed for this. The parents of the deceased were told that she has committed suicide but later they saw her dead body, naked, sexually assaulted and brutally mutilated. Women of Kolkata are holding midnight protests in the city. Cricket fans are proud of their idols for taking a stand.
