Vivek Oberoi, recently seen in Rohit Shetty's Indian Police Force alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Shilpa Shetty, opened up about his career shift from acting to business in a recent interview. Facing challenges in Bollywood, Vivek redirected his focus towards business ventures as his income from movies and events began to wane.

In a conversation with ABP Live, Vivek revealed that before he started his acting career, he aimed to earn and save enough money to fund his further studies in the US. As his earnings increased, he ventured into the stock market, receiving training from brokers. Remarkably, he began building his stock market portfolio at just 16 or 17 years old.

Even during the peak of his acting career, Vivek continued to invest in various businesses. Reflecting on his journey, he shared, "I returned and became an actor, Company happened, Saathiya happened. Life was good, but I always wanted to start as an investor. However, I ended up becoming an active businessman. It helped me."

Despite receiving critical acclaim for his performances, Vivek experienced a downturn in his acting career when filmmakers stopped offering him roles. This shift led him to focus more on his businesses. In a previous interview with indianexpress.com, Vivek discussed the struggles he faced, despite delivering successful and impactful performances. He revealed that during these uncertain times, his business ventures provided him with stability and financial security. To date, he has invested in 29 companies.

Interestingly, Vivek's business journey began even before his acting career. At 15, he started a small business with Rs 500 given by his father, Suresh Oberoi. Coming from a boys' boarding school, Vivek found himself spending his allowance on dates with girls he met at Mithibai College. After a stern talk from his father about his spending habits, Vivek resolved not to rely on his father's money. He began earning through voice gigs and hosting shows to support his college expenses.

Despite the ups and downs in his acting career, Vivek Oberoi has carved out a successful path as a businessman. His last major project was Indian Police Force, and he continues to maintain a strong bond with his father and family.

He ruined his own career. That’s what happens when you put your ego above everything else.
