Shahid Kapoor Joins Cocktail 2? Latest Buzz About the Sequel

The 2012 romantic comedy Cocktail, featuring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, was a big hit at the box office. Known for its engaging direction, catchy soundtrack, and remarkable performances, the film remains a fan favorite. Reports now suggest that a sequel, Cocktail 2, is in development under Maddock Films. Shahid Kapoor is expected to play the lead role, while Homi Adajania, who directed the original, is set to return as the director.

According to a report by Peeping Moon, Shahid Kapoor has not signed the project yet but has given his verbal confirmation. Filming for Cocktail 2 is likely to begin in mid-2025. This will mark Shahid's second collaboration with Maddock Films, following his work in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. A source shared that Homi Adajania and producer Dinesh Vijan had been planning a sequel for years. They now feel confident about a storyline that captures the charm of the first movie.

“Cocktail 2 brings a fresh narrative while maintaining the lively tone and feel of the original. Shahid loved the script and has already agreed to join the project. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing to finalize young leading actresses for the film,” said the insider.

The sequel will focus on love and friendship with a contemporary twist. Producer Dinesh Vijan aims to create an urban romantic comedy that will connect with today’s youth. Shahid Kapoor is expected to start working on Cocktail 2 after completing Vishal Bhardwaj’s action thriller, where he is rumored to play a gangster.

The original Cocktail also introduced Diana Penty to Bollywood. Apart from the leading trio, it featured a talented ensemble cast including Dimple Kapadia, Boman Irani, and Randeep Hooda. Fans are now eagerly awaiting updates on this promising sequel.
