Virat Kohli Congratulates Jay Shah

Virat Kohli extended his congratulations to Jay Shah on his appointment as the new Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah, the current BCCI Secretary, was elected unopposed on Tuesday and is set to succeed Greg Barclay starting December 1. As the youngest-ever ICC Chairman, Shah will hold office for a three-year term. He becomes the fifth Indian to hold this prestigious position within the ICC.

Jay Shah, hailing from Ahmedabad, is the youngest Indian among his predecessors—Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan, and Shashank Manohar—to take on this prestigious position. The administrator from Ahmedabad was the only candidate nominated for the chairmanship role.

“Many congratulations @JayShah on being elected as the ICC chairman. Wishing you great success ahead,” wrote Kohli in a congratulatory post on ‘X’.

Shah's vision encompasses enhancing cricket's worldwide appeal and prominence, especially with its upcoming debut in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. He acknowledges the significance of maintaining a balance across various formats, advocating for cutting-edge technologies, and introducing flagship events to emerging global markets.

"I am humbled by the nomination as the Chair of the International Cricket Council," Shah stated in an ICC release.

"I am committed to working closely with the ICC team and our member nations to further globalise cricket. Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before," he was quoted as saying in the release.
