'The Traitors': Prime Video India to stream Indian adaptation of the show hosted by Karan Johar

Prime Video India is set to bring the Indian adaptation of the internationally acclaimed reality game show The Traitors, teaming up with independent distributor All3Media International. Produced by BBC Studios India Productions, the show is based on the popular BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning global format created by IDTV. As India Forums had exclusively learnt about the show first, bow the official announcement makes fans all excited. 

The Indian version of The Traitors is currently in production and will feature renowned filmmaker and television personality Karan Johar as the host. The format has become a global sensation, with over 20 countries adopting it for their local audiences. The Indian edition will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi, with English subtitles, offering audiences a thrilling mix of trust, betrayal, and intense competition.

The show brings together 20 contestants, who arrive at a royal palace hoping to win a large cash prize. While most players will be designated as ‘innocents’, a few will secretly be chosen by the host to be ‘traitors’. These traitors will work to sabotage the innocents’ efforts, creating a tense atmosphere of deception, manipulation, and suspicion. The game is filled with psychological and physical challenges, as the innocents must figure out who the traitors are before it's too late. With every twist and turn, the stakes get higher in this ultimate game of strategy and survival.

Karan Johar expressed his excitement about hosting the show, saying, "I’ve watched the UK and US versions of The Traitors, and I’m hooked on the format. It’s thrilling, suspenseful, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Having already garnered multiple awards, The Traitors was recently named Format of the Year 2024 by K7 and won C21’s International Format Award for Best Host of a Television Format. With Karan Johar at the helm, the Indian adaptation is set to add even more excitement to the series’ global success.
