Irrfan Khan who is currently receiving treatment for his cancer is on a road to recovery. In March 2018, he had announced that he has been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumor and immediately flew to the UK to receive treatment for the same.

"The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about. Learning that I have been diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope," his statement read.

A few days back it was reported that Irrfan had flown down to India for two days to attend a puja and since then there have been a lot of speculations as to if he will get back to work and if he does when will that be. However, there has been no official confirmation about the actor returning to the sets or about his health.

But, fans can rejoice now, as director-producer Tigmanshu Dhulia has confirmed a piece of good news about Irrfan's health and he returning on the silver screens.

Tigmanshu has revealed that Irrfan is back in India and is in a good health and will start shooting for the sequel of Hindi Medium soon.

The shooting for the sequel was to start last year in August but was pushed due to Irrfan's treatment.

In an interview to Deccan Chronicle, Tigmanshu was quoted saying, "I did meet him after he returned to India. He is perfectly fine now. Irrfan told me that he will begin shooting for Hindi Medium franchise soon." About collaborating with Irrfan, he added, "We will do a film soon. Actually, we were in the process of writing one for him. Probably, if everything goes well, we shall be making the film soon."
