Akshay Kumar is going through a lean phase at the box office. The superstar has had lean phases in his career, but this has to be one of the toughest times ever for him. Trade experts are trying to fathom what has gone wrong with the actor’s hold at the box office. Many feel he has been badly over exposed of late, which is why people have lost all the excitement of seeing him in the movies. Others feel he made bad decisions acting in remakes of superhit South Indian movies that were already watched by many.
Now, an old video has come where we can see Akshay Kumar, Irrfan Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Varun Dhawan and Rajkummar Rao on the panel. They were having a conversation with Rajeev Masand. Irrfan Khan is heard saying that the kind of movies that worked in 2017 won’t work years down the line. He says Indians will be exposed to more international content than ever before and the present kind of cinema won’t work anymore. Akshay Kumar on hearing this says, “Tu kharab kar raha hai humari industry ko yeh bol ke. Dangerous zone”. But Irrfan Khan stood his ground. He said that it is inevitable. He opined, “Jo hone hai woh toh hai hai.” Rajkummar Rao, Varun Dhawan and Ayushmann Khurrana agreed with him.
His last movie, Khel Khel Mein was well-received by the critics. But they felt that the release date should have been better. It clashed with Stree 2 and Vedaa at the box office. Akshay Kumar said that he is aware that some people are enjoying his downfall. He said they literally send him condolence messages. The superstar said he only knows how to work hard and would continue to do so.
His next is Sky Force. The reports of the film are good. It also stars Sara Ali Khan and Veer Pahariya. The two were a former couple. It is directed by Sandeep Kelwani. His other films are Jolly LLB 3, Welcome To The Jungle, Housefull 5 and more. Irrfan Khan passed away in 2020 after a long battle with neuroendocrine tumour.

This is second article where I am seeing akshay behaving like this. It seems like he can't any type of criticism. He takes it like a personal attack and perceive it as people saying he isn't working hard. What he fails to get that it's not about working hard. It's about picking right kind of movies with changing trends.
