You have seen her acting in popular shows like Maryaada Lekin Kab Tak?, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Phir Bhi Na Maane..Badtameez Dil and many more and now she is rocking all the way as one of the most enthusiastic player from the Kolkata Babu Moshaye's team in BCL Season 2.
Yeah! She is Vindhya Tiwary, who also holds a passion for Cricket along with acting. In a candid conversation with TellyBuzz, Vindhya reveals more about her passion for Cricket, BCL Season 2 and much more...
How has your experience been so far?
This is my second season with BCL and last year was too much fun. I am in love with cricket and have been playing cricket since my childhood days with the boys of my colony in my hometown Varanasi. I never knew it back then, that all this is happening because I will get to play Cricket further in my life. I believe that whatever the thing is, we should do it with all our passion. I used to play Cricket during my childhood days with full passion and I remember the scoldings I used to get from everyone in my house because I used to break glasses and play cricket at 12 o'clock in the noon. I have played cricket with full passion. I love being an actor and everything I get to do as an actor. So it never makes me feel that I have worked for a single moment, so for me it's never a tiring thing. I am always happy playing Cricket and the experience so far has been pretty good.
How is your childhood passion for Cricket helping you now?
It is helping me a lot! I remember that we used to play with a Cork Ball and that ball used to be too hard to play, while now we play with a soft ball. As a bowler it becomes difficult because when the ball is very soft, you have to put in all your strength and the same happens with the Batsman too. I feel that's the reason why everyone is getting bowled. In the first match, I did my batting well but I could have done better than this. I couldn't get a chance for bowling. I truly believe that when you rectify your mistakes, then things get better. So hopefully this time we will show out Swag to Chennai Swaggers.
What's your forte - Batting or Bowling?
I love everything - Batting, Bowling and Fielding. For me, everything is equally important. I have always been good with batting since my childhood and used to be the captain of my team. Then I tried to improve my bowling and went on to become the only girl, who took hatrick wickets which lead me towards becoming player of the match. It's all about how hard you work on yourself and understand your weak points and work on them. It's very important to have that realization and the desire to get better in life.
How are you keeping yourself physically fit?
As an actor, I can't always be sitting lazy in life because God has given me an opportunity to become one in a million and I belong to a very small town. So when I am here in Mumbai, I don't waste a single moment. I regularly do my Yoga and keep myself fit. Keeping yourself fit is a regular process and it should happen every moment. I am a fit person and I believe that one should be fit, positive and always spread happiness.
How are you managing your shoots and BCL?
When you love and are passionate about something then you just manage it and you don't really need to think about it. The energy comes within you automatically. Its very easy for me to manage since I am in love with Cricket.
How is it working with the team?
Nivedita (Nivedita Basu) is my bestie and she is also the team owner, so it becomes like a Cherry on the cake that you are performing for your own friend. She is a chilled out person and she herself is a very good cricketer. She is also passionate about batting, bowling and fielding just like I am! She always motivates me and she calls me with a very beautiful name - Jammy! I have become famous with this name and I love it. She loves me and gives me a lot of positivity to play better. I feel great to work with her.
What's the reason behind this nickname?
She says that I am sweet like Jam, hence, Jammy (smiles).
What is the strategy of your team to compete with others?
I feel that strategies never work on the field. We make strategies but it never happens on the field. The moment you go there and if the scenario changes then you are like - What do I do now?! I think it's about the moment and it's about giving our best in any kind of circumstances. In the first match, our batting was not good but our bowling and fielding was so good that it made us feel like we will win, but we couldn't. The best part was that we played till the end with full spirit. There should be a healthy competition. I believe in being positive, going on the ground, not making strategies and just playing like a real player.
What other games are you inclined to play, other than Cricket?
I love Badminton and Football. I have won a lot of championships during my school days and I was the head girl. I feel that when you get an opportunity to do so much of co-curricular activities during school days along with studying, then you should take part in all this. Whatever you do, you should do it with all your heart and soul.
Who is your favourite Cricketer from the Indian Team and from your team?
From the Indian team, Sachin Tendulkar is my favorite and as a
kid, I always wanted to be Sachin Tendulkar (laughs). My family never stopped
me from playing Cricket. Right now Virat Kohli is in a great form and I have
recently got to know that he is single, so now he becomes my favourite too
(laughs). From my team, Nivi (Nivedita Basu) is my favourite among the girls and
Hiten (Hiten Tejwani), whom I call Tin Tin is my favourite among the boys. He came
for a short time but stroke sixes and fours. He is always positive and enthusiastic.
