Shah Rukh Khan to be honoured with Pardo alla Carriera at Locarno Film Festival celebrating his film journey

Shah Rukh Khan will be awarded the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera at the 77th edition of the Locarno Film Festival. This career achievement award, presented by Ascona-Locarno Tourism, celebrates Khan’s incredible journey in Indian cinema, spanning over 100 films across various genres.

Known as ‘King Khan’ or the ‘Baadshah’ of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has become a symbol of the vibrancy and vitality of Indian cinema. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 10, at Piazza Grande. In honor of his contribution to cinema, the festival will also screen his iconic film "Devdas" (2002) by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Additionally, Khan will participate in a public conversation at the Forum @Spazio Cinema on Sunday, August 11.

Shah Rukh Khan’s films are loved worldwide, making him a global icon. He has represented Indian cinema at numerous prestigious film festivals across the globe. His career, spanning over 30 years, includes a variety of acclaimed films. He gained early recognition with the romantic thriller "Baazigar" (1993), where he played a complex anti-hero. His superstardom was cemented with timeless romantic dramas like "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (1995) and "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" (1998).

In the following decades, Khan collaborated with many of India’s top directors and actors, earning international acclaim. He was honored with the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2007 and the Légion d'honneur in 2014 by the French government. His recent films, "Pathaan" (2023), "Jawan" (2023), and "Dunki" (2023), were all commercial hits and well-received by global audiences.
